Friendlies - what have we found out?

Pre-season is as much about seeing what doesn't work as what does. Does anyone think that the high line has been implemented as part of what Pellegrini wants to see what we can't do?

He will know fine well that we can defend deeper and well, he used that tactic against München last week and with Málaga he used it home and away to Dortmund with a counter-attacking style that worked really well.

Pellegrini is trying different systems hes a smart cookie. The Bayern game was an indication of this. Plus he doesn't want to give too much away to rival opposition pre season. All will be well, on the day.

That we are not quite as good as we think we are, new players will take time to bed in.....stay calm...

Not reading too much into what has happened so far. It's been an opportunity to experiment and things will change quickly once we are playing for real.

I do hope it won't take a season before we start pulling up trees given the quality of the inherited squad and the new signings. It's not like we are starting from scratch is it?

This all day!

The Arsenal game was not a must win for Pellegrini... it was another system change to fine tune and see what systems will work against what teams... Big headed i know, but think Arsenal will not beat us home or away this season because Pellegrini took more from that game that Wenger has...

if we on BM are screaming from the hills that the high line caused 2-3 goals within 10 mins in the Arsenal and AC Milan game, I am certain he Pellegrini know it too. If Pellegrini did not play the system of deep defending against Bayern I would worry, but I am sure he is getting the team to "feel" the different systems and get an idea of which players will flourish in which system.

People forget that Pellegrini is a master tactician and he adjusts systems midway through a game using tactical substitutions which throws off the opposition team ... he had done this a lot at Malaga with the resources he had.

Can't wait for next Monday

Confirmation that our defence needs strengthening and that Negredo is both better and faster than I originally thought.

we have learnt that nasri, dzeko, kolarov are exactly the same as last year , nasri just hasnt got the heart , kolarov still cant defend and dzeko falls over a lot. On the plus side milner, silva, kompany are looking back to their best ,and negredo is going to be a beast , and will make camel gob wish he had retired when the derby game comes round.
