This is scary stuff!!!! A client of ours, are members of the RHA (haulage association), and they have received an official letter confirming that the association expects fuel prices by september to have reached £2 a litre, and £2.40 by december. what is the point in carrying on?

I wonder if it would be possible for someone with a lot of oil to artificially reduce the price of petrol in one specific area, to aid regeneration and give the place an advantage to companies etc over the rest of the country.

really scary but the way things are going i wouldn't be surprised.

what gets me is that arsehole ed balls wittering on that the recent vat rise should be cancelled for fuel to help motorists. that's all well & good but when his government reduced vat in december 2008 the price of petrol didn't come down & the government did nothing to force the petrol companies to pass on the reduced cost to the consumer. of course when vat was subsequently increased back to 17.5% & then again to 20% the petrol companies slapped the increases on immediately.

the worry is, if people can't afford to rn their cars, that means less fuel tax, less road tax, less insurance premium tax etc that the government have to claim back from the working peoplle in other areas. i just hope we all turn round and say BOLLOCKS, if this continues, every working person will down tools in protest, and we all go on the dole / job seekers allowance. they would have to take notice then, cos the country would come to a stand still

Like everything mate. A reduction is always missed, but inflation is big news.

Like the recent insurance ruling, suggesting men and women be costed the same, it was made so that mens insurance fell a bit and womens increased, yet all that's happened is that womens has increased and we've stayed the same, insurers winning.

Dec 11 Brent is trading around level to the front month (hardly surprising as concerns are focused on what are currently perceived as short-term issues) so for them to forecast this price rise has little to no foundation in reality at this stage - in short no matter how "official" the letter appears it is little more than a guess.

That said, if history proves them to be correct, then the consequences to £2+ per litre fuel for any length of time would not be pretty.

We should stop buying it for a week.

Wouldn't make a blind bit of difference..........

The strategy team where I work have pencillied in £1.70 a litre by the summer (don't forget that before tax it will still be less than 60p a litre)

The solution is simples REDUCE or CAP THE TAX ......but the MP's wont cos they don't have to pay for fuel. If they are a minister they have access to a limo (costing £110,000 per year to run - not buy just run) if they are an MP they just submit an expense claim - remember they don't have to justify anything below £250)

MP Janet Anderson, who represents the Lancashire constituency of Rossendale and Darwen, made the biggest claim for car mileage at £16,612 - the equivalent of 60,448 miles in one year.

THEY AINT GONNA SORT IT COS IT DOESN'T AFFECT THEM

Fuc*in liars theives and Cheats the lot of them
