Very important game mentally today

I don't agree that our level of performance dropped in midweek. I just think that the opposition was better than anything we gave faced up to now...
We were the better side, and they were solid, but kompany , aguero, silva and nasri all played well below their best. That won't happen often.

Re: Very important game mentally today

Would be very frustrating to drop points to this Fulham side full of mid- thirties and who have looked sluggish in their last two home outings AND have had a days less rest. Agree with OP on the importance of being mentally strong and positive today

Re: Very important game mentally today

This is the first real test of the season and one that has an important side issue with it; can we perform in the leage and champions league for a full campaign? United get stick on here for some of their individuals but what they do as a squad year in year out in the champs league and premiership is remarkable. We have to learn from them because it's not easy.

I'm not a big fan of rotation this early in the season, surely the players are fine after a handful of games. And we can change the whole team on Weds night so for me Richards, Clichy, Dzeko, Aguero, Nasri and Silva all start.

Midfield is a bit of a worry with ndj and milner out. Yaya and Barry both played a lot of games including internationals already.

I can see richards and clichy coming back in and Tevez starting in place of aguero

Coping with midweek Champions League games and Premiership aways will be crucial.

The FA have somehow managed to give Utd 6 home Premiership games after European games whereas we have 6 aways!

This is more important when you travel away in Europe when fatigue is more of a problem. I am hoping that at this stage of the season the players are still mentally fresh and fit. And to an extent Fulham have a similar problem. However they restyed players, andthe intensity of their game was nothing like our game

We must start to use players like Tevez and Balotelli or they will be useless. You can't put players in hibernation and then expect them to play their best.

That you Edin?

Couldn't give us the winning lottery numbers as well could you?

One hell of a selection poser for Bob today.

Although I see where Marvin is coming from, with regards Carlos and Balo, I expect Bob to go with first choice eleven with Clichy and Micah in - try and get the game won in an hour and then make changes. Tiredness certainly shouldn't be an issue at this time of the season so no rotation required yet.

Problem though will be how Carlos and Balo react to being Carling Cup players, we will need them when we get injuries so I hope they stay focused as neither is the most level headed of people....
