Fulham v City Pre Match Thread

caution could be our undoing

they leak two a game on average so lets rip them a new one

attacking line up and get at them

yes they might score one but we could score a bucket full

No need to worry about Fulham too much in terms of who they put out, play the same team as we had second half v Arsenal but with Boyata at right back and smash them! Quite a narrow pitch at the Cottage, or at least it seems that way, yaya and fernandinho in the middle and Milner, Silva, Nasri behind Dzeko or Negredo.

Dzeko needs to start this one, between him and Negredo, he's the more effective goal scorer away from home plus has the advantage of having a particularly good record against Fulham.

If the game is close or 0-0 after 60 then bring on the beast.

Dzeko at this point has earned the right to play back to back games again.
Has he fuck earned anything

I love em both and will stick up for whoever Pellers picks. But no-one has the right to constantly give Dzeko shit when also Negredo missed some really good chances against Arse.
Ideal scenario ..... Negredo starts and scores a hatful..... is then subbed after 60 mins for Dzeko ..... who comes on and ..... scores a hatful.

Couldn't agree more, they will give up if we start tanning their arses, so lets get stuck into em at the first bell.!!

With Aguero being out for weeks, I'd be a bit frugal with our strikers and just play one up front. I'd start with Dzeko.

I'm not 100 per cent happy with any of our right back options. Boyata or Clichy can do a job but won't offer much in attack. If either of these guys start then I'd play Navas on the right wing.

If Milner plays then we' would be better off going 3 at the back and playing him as a wing back instead with Kolarov on the other flank.

My guess is that Pellegrini will opt for Clichy and play one up front.

Navas against Riise? Yes please.

Get Nasri or Silva as supporting Negredo and we'll be laughing here. If Jovetic is feeling better then he can get 30 mins from the bench.

Boyata RB, build his confidence. But we can't rely on our usual Zaba style flying WB runs which is why, for me, Navas on the right makes even more sense.

Since Jovetic can play on the left win, wouldn't mind him starting there but drifting in a lot. However that can reduce the space for Silva/Nasri. I also think Jovetic has a good shot in him and can shoot from outside the box, which we havn't done much bar freekicks.

However would go with the lone striker against Fulham, Nasri playing in Aguero's role.

---------------------Hart------------------------------
Milner--- Kompany---Demichelis-----Clichy
--------------Yaya-------Fernandinho-----------
Navas---------------Nasri------------------Silva
-----------------------Negredo--------------------------

Something like this, Silva doing the link up play between the mid and attack.
Would prefer Clichy over Kolarov to be more solid at the back considering we also don't have a seasoned RB.

I wouldn't play Navas no point having a winger in a set up which is to go through the middle I'd like to see Nasri, silva, Jovetic

---------------------------Pantilimon--------------------------

Milner-----Kompany(c)----Demichelis----Kolarov

-------------------Yaya-----------Fernandinho--------------

Navas-------------------Nasri---------------------Silva------

--------------------------Negredo-------------------------------

Navas is what changes the setup from going through the middle. We have to cross more without Aguero linking play now and going through the middle.

This except I'd play 4-4-2

Nasri-----------Yaya------------Fenandinho-------------Silva

Look to attack and kill 'em off in the first half

What's all this crap having Boyata in the equation at right back?

The only reason he is still at the club is because we foolishly rushed to offer a lucrative contract off the back of a couple games at centre back when we were down to the bare bones.

Again, it's the only reason he was on the bench and was eventually called upon the other night.

I can only assume nobody ever saw him play regular right back at Bolton?

Their fans rated him one of their worst performers last season.

You play Milner, simple as that.

You certainly don't play Clichy at right back.

Would play Demichelis before him, with Lescott or a when fit again Nasty alongside the man from Uccle.

This line up but Clichy will probably get the nod at left back imo.

It really is hard to complain about injuries too much when we can still field a team like that.. There's no reason that side can't pick up all 3 points with a solid performance to boot.

I concur. He's the only option that allows us to keep to our game plan. Good on ball, work rate to get up and down accordingly and a disciplined player who won't find himself out of position. I'd be shocked if Pelligrini is looking past Jimmy.

Boyata is no where near good enough. Milner all day long, will play similar to Zab, strong tackles, overlapping runs, getting crosses in, busting his arse to get back if it breaks down, no brainer. If we take our chances should be game over by half time.

Hart

Milner Kompany Lescott Clichy

Yaya Fern

Nasri Silva Jovetic

Negredo

Not the side that will be picked, but the side I would pick
