Full Backs?

Zinchenko might go on loan. Sané isn't a forgone conclusion yet either. Nolito is a winger, but he isn't quick. Nolito could play on the wing, but also play more centrally and back up to De Bruyne in the Muller role in certain games. Pep will rotate players and De Bruyne and even Aguero will sit out some games especially since we have a lot of cup competitions. At Bayern he had 4 wingers and they rotated the most. Robben, Ribery, Costa and Coman and yes there were injuries, but still Pep like to rotate his wingers like Pellers did our fullbacks. We never know what will happen, but Pep does the unconventional.

Nolito will never play centrally. He's had a decade long career as a winger. If pep wanted a central player he would have just bought one.

Zinchenko and his agent have both said they aren't going on loan.

Aguero and De Bruyne are unlikely to sit out games if they stay fit, in the same way both Lewandowksi and Müller played 50 games last season.

And Bayern only had 4 wingers for about 3 weeks of the season. It wasn't that there were some injuries, Ribery and Robben were out for 90% of the season.

Pep does occasionally break the mould but he doesn't do things like sell a RB to bring in a sixth winger.

Instead of trying to come up with the most bizarre way pep could possibly act, let's just assume he's selling a right back and then buying a right back to play right back.

They were out a lot of the season, but Pep went in beginning of the season with all 4. If he knew they'd be out 90% he wouldn't have put them on the roster. Lewandoski and Muller both sat out CL games. I don't think Pep will play both every game and even in the Capital One and FA cup. He will rest one. Nolito is know for playing on the left and cutting in. He's speed doesn't allow him to get on the outside and put crosses in too often especially on his weaker foot. What I'm saying is that he may play on the wing in some games, but also centrally too. Sorry if my thinking is too bizarre. I saw him put Douglas Costa in the midfield as well as Lahm. He put Alaba as CB a lot of games and also Kimmich who is a midfielder.

I don't get everyone's desperation for a Left back, Clichy is a good defender and has good pace.
We need a back up. I'm also not sure about Angelino.
Then again Mangala played left back a lot before he came to us.

There is a limit to what we can and will do in 1 window and left back isn't as important as other positions.

Totally disagree. It is the second most important position to fill after LM/LDM

I disagree, I think signing Toni Kroos would be the most important thing, then a ball playing centre back(Stones), a skill full pacey right winger who is a goal threat(Sane) and then a right Back.
My problem with right back(Sagna) is although he had a great season and was solid he for me was a 7 at best but before last season we were used to Zabba as a solid 8.5 every week.
So to summarise he was good but still not as good as Zabba. I don't think we should .be settling with a 33 year old who isn't as good as we have had for the last 5 years

Barca signed digne from psg.
Isn't he a full back?
Should we have been in for him? (Maybe we were and he chose barca)

I would argue with you that he isn't a good defender, and doesn't have much pace either. If you add that to the fact that he's uncomfortable in possession and offers nothing going forward then he needs replacing. Both fullbacks will be replaced within 12 months. Neither are good enough for a Pep team.

I think most people are writing off Zabba far to easily and it makes me cringe a bit to be honest. Come guys, the guy just needs a rest which he's getting. Him and Sagna for next season is fine by me. Dhino as a possible stop gap and Denyher will also play there. I'd also love to see Kolarov coached right before getting rid. Don't see many realistic outstanding options to replace them

The guy had a rest for about 3 months of the season last year and was utterly woeful. There's some absolutely ridiculous revisionism going on.

There's also some ridiculous flapping going on too. Im pretty sure pep will make the right decisions. For the first time ever, I think we've got someone in charge that knows better than us lot of geniuses ;-)
P.s. Sean, we wasn't woeful, he was poor for 6 months. That doesn't mean he's finished.

Clichy was excellent towards the end of last season, and can see him thriving under Guardiola. Don't think we'll be signing another left back this window, even when Kolarov goes. I expect either Angelino or Zinchenko (or Delph at a push) will be back up.

I would be more than happy to see Zab continue. A lot of people on here are worried about us not getting players in earlier, but I for one am happy that Pep is looking at each and every player before deciding his next step. I had hoped he wouldn't judge most of them based on last season and that seems to be the case. I think he will use the China tour to have a look at the likes of Yaya, Zaba, Fernando.

bad move imo but at least kolarov will be out!!
