He might be, but could equally play in a 2 with Sterling.

Also even when we play 433 he's not really on his own because Sterling and Sané have been playing so far inside.

Mendy's injury is more likely to effect him IMO than Sergio's - no Mendy will probably force Sané to stay out wide on the left to provide width and might leave him a bit isolated.

Hey, I already said that at the bottom of my post ;P

I know what you mean with Mendy, but we didn't have him last season and the Sane Sterling Jesus trio seemed to work

Highly doubt Sane gets dropped for Bernardo. He's far more midfield than forward. We complain about converting chances and Sane has scored on something like 5/8 shots.

Edit: 5/8 on target. Nailed that one

Both might start on the bench if we go 352.

I'm excited to see who we deploy. I just don't see Dave/Bernardo/Kev as forwards in a three
...at all ... and I don't think Pep does either. I know we're going for positionless football but for me that front line has to score goals (and have pace) and having bernado up there Doesn't fit that profile.

Just my admittedly amateurish view on football lol. I don't like having slow creative types in attacking positions tbh. That's what the midfield is for no?

As much as I agree that I am not sure having Bernardo in as one of the forwards makes sense for this match, he is no slouch when it comes to pace. He is fairly quick without the ball (more so than both Kevin and David) and with the ball he is absolutely rapid (think Messi’s running; it’s what many call pure efficiency of motion—no tricks or showing off, just the exact amount of movement, effort, and touches to follow the best path to his objective in that moment).

He seems to have held himself back a bit initially to find his feet in his new team and system but, against Shakhtar at the end, he started to turn it on (his run for our second being a good example).

Bernardo isn't quick like Messi at all he just has similar close control. Also KDB would destroy him in a sprint.. Bench for Bernardo hopefully as the midfield 3 should pick itself at the moment and Sterling and Sane deserve to start as our wide men.
