I think the reason he isn't scoring is because he's actually too unselfish and too much of a team player.
He's become so desperate to assist, link the play around him that he's almost lost a tad of his ruthlessness in front of goal.
Humm, I rarely thought being offside was Anelkas fault. 1) He was usually onside, just stupidly fast and the linemen fucked up. 2) The person playing the ball was too slow for Anelka.
I'd go along with the linesman theory. Dunno 'bout the second bit!
They all have (forwards). It’s the system and the way we play. We’re asking the entire team to make the most optimal pass and the most optimal play at all times. Especially around goal. It’s why we never really score incredible solo goals and it’s also why we miss so many seemingly easy chances. That selfishness / ruthlessness is ironed out for the better, but it has ‘drawbacks’ in the traditional sense for strikers.
He will start Sunday I'm sure,otherwise I reckon we may have a sulky kid on our hands in the not to distant future

He doesn’t need to score himself when he’s making all the space for everyone else. It’s similar to Firmino at Liverpool. He looks shit on paper in terms of goals, but their attack clicks because of him. Jesus has that effect. I don’t think anyone at City feels he “needs a goal quick”. Maybe just supporters with simplistic measures of what is a good performance. I’m sure Pep’s delighted with how sharp he’s looked of late. His movements are electric, his feet are quicker than ever, and he’s even dribbling way more than he used to. Less dropping to the ground in imaginary pain too.
