I keep reading his hold up play is good etc but he is a striker and has to contribute with goals, always offside,he has been here long enough to have improved but i feel he has gone backwards

Put your tin hat on , i said similar a few weeks ago and was talked on here for a week ! You cannot fault his work rate , movement and build up play but strikers are judged on goals , i would never write him off at 20 years old , because he has got so much time to develop , it has been a slow process compared to Sane and Sterling , but i genuinely think there is a top striker in there somewhere. When Aguero leaves in the next 2/3 years i have no doubt we will sign a top calibre replacement so the next couple of seasons are critical to Jesus's City career.

I'm used to getting flack on this thread,i'm not in any way writing him off but taking over from sergio is just not going to happen,he is not progressing at all imo

People just refuse to learn their lessons. It's as if they've seen the development of every young player under Pep and decided that for some reason Jesus is immune from such. And in 2 years time when Jesus is quality for us we'll see these posts for whichever other 21 year old we have going through a quiet patch.

Played well today, put himself about brilliantly and was very unlucky not to get on the sheet. One or two moments of brilliance too.

How long has he been here and do you really think he is developing as a striker and not just a player who has good hold up play?

I do think he's developing. There's more maturity in his play and his off the ball movement gets better with every game. Read up on bamboo theory, it might help you understand his situation and why his progress is less obvious but still there.

He is a very good player but with the pace we have on the wings it is frightening to think what mbappe might accomplish in that role. Am curious to see raheem get more minutes centrally

His off the ball play is good but he is not developing as a striker,if sergio left tomorrow he could not score the goals we need to replace him, lets not forget he is brazils no 9 so striker is his position

I'm just going to say I disagree with you on all fronts and leave it there.

He had a nice little minute in the 2nd half with a nice flicked header followed by a good little dribble in their box.

However, he needs to put himself about much more than this. He does not look like the Jesus we had when he first signed.

I thought he did well today. A good number of layoffs and he was very unlucky not to get a stud on that chance in the first half, and it was his good work that led to Ferny's chance that he shoved wide. He tends to play a lot of the game with his back to goal, whereas the first thing Sergio does is a little shimmy or swivel to get facing the opposition.

I was particularly shocked at Karen. She is normally a happy clapper for our players.

Oh well!

I think deep down most posters know he's not what they hoped he'd be. If you were a manager who had watched him over the last few seasons would you really be busting a gut to sign him? It's not the end of the world, I'm sure he'll be a success somewhere, just can't see it being in this league.

If he starts adding the goals at the rate he was doing when he first signed again, add that to the all round better footballer he is now then we have some player on our hands.
