I know usually he does a lot off the ball movement wise but even that wasn't the case tonight so it won't fly with me if anyone rolls it out as an "excuse".

He was just wank tonight. Set up the second well but if folk usually go "aside from one cock up" etc then the reverse also counts.
 
He showed glimpses of his quality but he’s resembling Vassell in one-on-one situations at the moment.

Easily upgrade him with a young striker who is better and willing to play back-up to Aguero? More chance of United winning the league

Why does the striker have to be young? I’m sure someone like Callum Wilson would jump at the chance to join City (I’m not suggesting we sign him, it’s just an example).
 
Great awareness for the assist, should of scored though but form comes and goes. The main thing that bothers me is that he is constantly offside, needs to work on that.
 
I’ve no problem with giving him time as I thought he played ok tonight bar the miss. My concern is that we only have two strikers. We could do with some extra cover.

It was your assertion that any striker we sign would be back-up to Kun which I thought was bollocks. Pep rotates for a start so any striker coming in would get his fair share of games. Also, Pep has backed Gabby and has put him ahead of Kun at times. The only reason why Gabby finds himself as second fiddle is because he hasn't performed and scored on a consistent basis. I do have some sympathy for him as whenever he seems to hit form he has been struck with in injury however his goal scoring record is poor this season.

Fekir, Werner, Icardi and even Depay and Martial would be options who we could potentially sign who I believe would offer more that Gabby currently is. FWIW I'm not advocating selling Gabby, but he does need to find some form sooner rather than later.
 
Would be nice if he got a run of games with a goal BUT he does work his arse off that often helps fuck up oppo defensive structures like no other player.

Not too bothered about that if Jesus starts to finish again because no decent striker would want to be 3rd choice and Sterling is now a good option to play there if needed. To be honest if Sergio is out of start him there on Saturday

I’m not keen on Sterling in that role. I’d prefer Jesus to come good. Seems to be very low on confidence in front of goal. Maybe Pep taking the penalty off him at Anfield didn’t
help that.
 
Works his bollocks off this kid.

Gone of the boil for me though. Doesn’t look like he’s got a goal in him and looks very lacking in confidence in those chance to score moments.

Hopefully he just needs a couple of goals and he’ll relocate his mojo.

I mean Aguero hasn't been on the bench once in the league this season(before Aguero's injury, gabby started 2/13 games and played a total of 304minutes) and only been rotated in the champions league.

of your list. Fekir is a midfielder, Werner and Icardi would be £80mil+(we don't pay that), Depay's a cnut(therefore not a Pep player) and Martial is average.
 
Remember his first cameo against Spurs (or one of the first cameos) but it doesn't feel like the same player. I'm worried that his knee injury affected him both physically and mentally and that he will not come back from it. He is fast becoming as bulky as Micah as well, and I'm afraid that will limit him further.
 
He seems to lack the composure at this level. It's almost as if he seems surprised when he actually does well on the ball and usually follows it up with something poor. Even with his assist tonight, his eyes were fixed on the ball instead of trying to look for a man. He seems to play football in hope as opposed to with confidence.
 
He just needs a run of games and the goals will come. Is he as good as Aguero in terms of finishing? No. And he probably wont ever be, but does he create chances and get into good positions and provide a different dynamic to Aguero? Yes. Give him time, he is young and still developing. Few are prolific at his age when playing up top on their own.
