Gabriel Jesus joins Arsenal

Fair play to the lad, he’s been respectful when he’s talked about us, and he is ripping it up at Le arse.

Ive been watching the arse all or nothing…pretty boring but a few highlights…..I can see why they need characters like gabby in the dressing room….I only hope they can meet his ambition

Some players just need a different environment to reach their best.

Pep's an amazing manager, maybe the best ever, but I get the sense he's very "sink or swim", he doesn't have time to rebuild confidence in a player every time they hit a down spell.

Arteta is different, he's much more of a cheerleader. That's why he was such a great assistant to Pep and why Jesus, Sterling and Sané all were at their best when he was at the club. They were all confidence players who Arteta worked with 1 on 1.

Watching Jesus today he's almost unrecongisable from the player of the last 2 years at City with the exception of games where he got a really early goal and could relax and play with confidence.

Arteta is going all in on him, and he's going to build up his confidence every day, and he'll be a much better player than he could be here. The sacrifice is he won't win trophies every year and play in the CL every season.
Totally agree. I think you and I were both of the opinion that Jesus could be the one that got away if he could just find that absolute self-belief in himself.

You can tell Arteta has taken the time with him to let him know he has his unwavering support. He's been told, "I wanted you here more than anyone, you're my main guy, nobody else. I have complete faith in you."

The fact he hit the ground running pre-season will have helped and he hasn't looked back. Will be interesting to see how he copes when he hits a dry spell but I fully expect him to hit at least 20 PL goals this season. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets 25 or higher.

I watched him in the fa cup semi final blow some really big chances and it was almost like he was panicking knowing he was getting a start and that he needed to score and impress.

Pressure of only playing here and there and the constant worry of being dropped, not the only one I must add but ultimately that pressure will be off at Arsenal and he can have a few stinkers without the fear of not playing for 3-4 games.

Wish him well at Arsenal and I wouldn’t be surprised if he outscores Haaland come the end of the season.

He prove that he can be a CF, not only a RW.

If he stayed fit, he will score +20 goals this season.

I still think he’d have done better at Spurs, time will tell but it’s all a bit reactive after 2 games. I knew he’d do well wherever he went after us though.

Made me smile seeing him score for Arsenal, including a great first goal.

Made me smile seeing his effort for them, setting up chances.

It also made me smile seeing him miss a sitter in the second half when he finally should have had his hat trick.

He's always given his all for us and deserves a chance somewhere as the main man. I hope he does really well - just that it doesn't impact us at all too. But that game yesterday summed up everything about why we maybe would have wanted to keep him, but also why he wasn't as key here as he would have wished.

Lot of revisionism on this thread.

Jesus was always a great player and his stats for us back that up.

Great record, great attitude, great workrate.

Arsenal playing a higher velocity of football now with him and Zin.

You can see the runners and people sparking off each other.

What can you do, he wanted to start every week.

He will get that and not the medals, that's the trade off.

Gabby's a very good player but he could never hold the starting number 9 position down for long at City and that wasn't about to change.

Starting every week will help; also he may not face so many parked buses playing for Arsenal and if he has a bit more space to play in, that will be a big bonus for him.
