dont get me wrong its fantastic that we are looking like signing this kid, but one thing that does peeve me off slightly is the fact he's probably only coming here for pep, not the club. now thats great that pep can attract a mercurial talent like gabriel jesus, but i'd rather a player who wanted to come play for the club, not the manager. hopefully the talk of him just coming here for pep is conjecture

But who did Pep choose to manage!? There are usually a number of reasons that a player might choose to sign for a particular club and rarely, if ever is it down to the prestige of the club alone. I should imagine it's a factor of the manager in charge, the quality of the team, the fans, the location, the money on offer, the vision of the club, champions league, etc etc you are falling into a rag trap if you think a player will choose you simply for the prestige of the club and nothing else.

If we get him we need him to sign a new contract just before pep leaves - can you imagine the media shit storm when pep goes after he said he's signing for pep?

I bet some journos already have the article written

Spoke to a former colleague of mine yesterday evening who's working at the Rio Olympics. He said all the talk over there is that this kid is signing for us.

This is just bar talk more than anything, but it seems pretty common knowledge

Cheers. Keep up the good work.

MANCHESTER CITY have beaten Barcelona in the race to sign Brazilian whizkid Gabriel Jesus.

City boss Pep Guardiola followed up Tuesday’s 37million capture of German starlet Leroy Sane from Schalke by tabling a £28.6m offer for Palmeiras winger Jesus, 19. He follows Ilkay Gundogan, who cost £20.4m, Nolito for £13.8m and Oleksandr Zinchenko for £1.7m.

And if they land Everton’s John Stones that will take City’s summer spending to more than £150m.

Barcelona wanted Jesus and even enlisted the help of his famous countryman Neymar to try to persuade Jesus to move to Spain.

But Guardiola convinced the youngster to move to the Etihad.

Now City are just awaiting the green light from Brazil Olympic football team chiefs to fly in and complete the formalities.
