Why would anyone have a cheaper release clause, for some of the richest clubs in the world ?

Can you imagine any reason ?

I agree mate....doesnt make sense but seen reports that Barca, rags, Bayern and I think it was PSG all had a lower release clause than anyone else....

Just wondering if Duncan Castles is being a bit mischievous with his reporting and trying to make it look like we have been "snubbed again" he is after all a Mourinho mouthpiece

The City of Guardiola put on the table by Gabriel Jesus 21,500,000

The United has also joined the bidding for the striker, claimed by Barca, with an offer that does not reach 20 million

FC Barcelona has collided with two tough competitors when negotiating with Palmeiras star, Gabriel Jesus. As reported in the British press, both Manchester City and United have made the paths get offers to the Brazilian club. In both cases they would be slightly above 19 million offered by the Catalan club.

The average Briton 'One World Sports' notes that the City has put on the table 21'5 million euros to sign the striker, considered one of the most talented players from Brazil, Neymar Barca natural successor.

The whole 'citizen' was the last to join the auction for the player, but not the only one. This weekend went beyond the interest of Manchester United Jose Mourinho. However, the financial offer of the 'Red Devils' would not reach the amount proposed by its neighbors, staying at 19.5 million euros.

In any case, the two bids received by the Palmeiras in recent days exceeding 19 million would pay the FC Barcelona player.

However, the Catalan club plays an important asset in their favor, since the will and express wish of the player is joining the club and follow in the footsteps of Neymar as Jesus Gabriel himself has recognized.

The only reason for this separate clause for a few could be that the Clubs in question could have paid his club some sort of advance fee upfront to arrange it

I agree....there was a list of 3 or 4 teams but we were not one of them....If reports are correct, we must have just matched the release clause with our offer but not activated it....
According to The Sun (apologies for quoting or linking them but it had to be done) we are on that exclusive list: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...-brazilian-youth-international-gabriel-jesus/

'Jesus in fact has TWO release clauses, one allowing City, Barca, Bayern, United, Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid to land him for just £16.7m.

The other allows any team on the planet to get their hands on him, but for the princely sum of £27.8m.'

Cheers mate! I hadnt seen The Sun report.....thats good to know!

I do think our interest is genuine, but it'll be tough if Barca want him as well.

Yep the lure of barca would be big depends if pep and the team can be more persuasive to him and his family to come to England

Barcelona desperately need a 4th forward as well - someone who can play as back up to any of the big 3. He would seemingly fit the bill perfectly.

Just posted this in the rumour thread...If Barca see Boufal as that 4th forward/winger type role, it might open the door to Gabriel Jesus to us?....fingers crossed!;)

Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to pay £19.6m for Sofiane Boufal but Barcelona have held talks with the Lille winger. (Daily Express)

Just out of curiosity, what would this mean to Barker and Roberts, now that we are linked with this guy, Sane and we already have Raheem?

If they are good enough, there'll be room for them. Roberts in particular is likely to move central to the 10 position when he gets older, Sterling could do similarly, Jesus or Sané could both end up strikers.

Versatility and rotation means everything to Pep, we will have more than XI starting players in the squad.

Coman is playing in a team with Robben, Ribery and Douglas Costa - isn't going badly for him is it?
