Gabriel Jesus

in half of one window we have reduced our average squad age by nearly 5 years.

We were beat up with the stat last year that our squad was too old

I await the next attempt
the press will probably say that our squad is "too young" next

It could well mean we can afford to wait until January to offload Bony?

Gabriel will then be available and Bony will be off to AFCON, meaning we can balance the foreign quota with ease.

And maybe the usual panic buying at that time of year will see more of the struggling Premier League clubs come to the fore for him?

I'd sooner play the Doris the tea lady up front that clown. The sooner we shift Bony for what ever we can get from him the better.

Must admit that I'm not that excited by it as I know fuck all about him. I know other teams were allegedly after him, but it's not as if we've signed someone like Ibrahimovic who is a proven world class striker. People need to calm down, even Rashford has a better record than this lad, and he cost fuck all.......
No, no he doesn't. This is an idiotic and nonsensical post and I say that with no slight at all directed towards Rashford who is fantastic. Gabriel Jesus is (was) one of the most wanted youngsters in the world. This is a massive signing -- he looks like Aguero's long-term replacement to me.

Be Honest who had actually heard of him before we were linked? Looks a talent though and always love a flair player, think we will play him as a striker.
I recommend some of you who are totally clueless about players outside the Premier League play some Football Manager. It'll do you good.

Ter Stegen playing out from the back

Stones bringing the ball out

Fernandinho bossing the midfield

Gundogan/Silva orchestrating

Sané and Gabriel Jesus on the wings

De Bruyne playing killer passes

Aguero finishing off moves

I'm getting a hard on just thinking about the way we could play under Pep

If we look at the ages of players and factor in selling some players things look about perfect.
We should get two good seasons from Silva and Nolito. 3-4 out of Aguero.
De Bruyne enjoying 5/6 years.
Behind them, Sane, Moreno, Jesus, Iheanacho.

That gives us time to bed in some fantastic talent whilst also allowing us to move out established talent when we see fit.
Aguero will be 31 in 3 years, Iheancho just 22. That is near perfect timing.
Likewise with Silva, Nolito being replaced by Moreno and Roberts.
I believe Jesus to more central so he will compete with Iheanacho.
Sterling and Sane to compete for the next 10 years.
De Bruyne as the lynch pin of the evolution.

3 in their late 20's.
De Bruyne in his peak.
3 on loan in their teens
3 in their very early 20's(late teens) backing up/interchanging with the senior forwards.

Without further signings, we have a forward line and up and coming stars sorted for 5-6 years. By the time the likes of of Sane hit their mid 20's Diaz et al will be hitting their stride in their early 20's.
In theory that is perfect but that's not really how it will likely play out. I'd be amazed if we didn't dip into the market again next summer to make moves for next season's break out stars. What if Sane has a similar season to last season's Sterling, and then another young German has a breakout year? There's just too many variables to suggest we see perfectly set up for the next half decade.

What if Iheanacho doesn't want to wait until he is 23 to play regularly. Ditto for Sane or Sterling.

I'm half buzzing but half sceptical with everything at the minute. We hardly have a good track record of showing patience with young players, but we do have a track record of continuously wanted to buy the 'next best thing'. I just hope there is a method behind the madness.

Redcafe is of the consistent opinion that most of our signings won't work and they're not bothered. I can hear the distant sounds of angst, welling up in the hearts of men who know what's coming. Like the once proud silverback whose mantle has been taken by a younger, fitter rival and who can see the gap widening as his prowess gradually ebbs. It's a beautiful time.

Hope he doesn't get seriously injured playing for us or we may need him to make a second coming for us.
That ones for you Oakie ;)
