Must admit that I'm not that excited by it as I know fuck all about him. I know other teams were allegedly after him, but it's not as if we've signed someone like Ibrahimovic who is a proven world class striker. People need to calm down, even Rashford has a better record than this lad, and he cost fuck all.......

Hard to argue that currently. But we are only 8 years in. Four or five since the back of Santa Cruz & Wayne Bridge.

We have the attacking talent, we have the manager. One may become a World Class player, in a dream world two. Not a chance all will be. If every £100 million we spend on exciting youth produces 5 excellent players and two World class, we are smashing it.

Perhaps the likes of Sterling will just become a very successful squad player for us.
I agree, all very exciting, but now is the time we should see this exciting youth, our own youth by the end of Pep's time.

I think sterling is in deep shit to be honest I'm struggling to see where he fits in if this lad is as good as some are saying

I think the last great young Brazilian forward signed fresh from the Olympics was the fabulous Jo, hope he can live with the burden of comparison.
I was reading an article a little while ago when I heard we were linked with Gabriel and it said how Brazil have always had great strikers/forwards until recent years when they've had to play Fred and Jô because they literally had nobody else.

Now they have a front three of Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Gabigol. In five years time that could be a frightening front three!

Sterling will be a squad player this season and will probably be sold next Summer. I've honestly never really rated him at all. I can only see him being a decent enough, Europa Lg/4th-7th in the table standard player.

He's got till Christmas then. I've got faith in the lad, but he needs something special. Seems he's stopped the hippy crack so that's a start. ;-).

We could all compile a video of Sterling that would match any of the World's young talent. The lad has it all. He just needs the belief of his fans, his manager and more importantLy himself.

It could well mean we can afford to wait until January to offload Bony?

Gabriel will then be available and Bony will be off to AFCON, meaning we can balance the foreign quota with ease.

And maybe the usual panic buying at that time of year will see more of the struggling Premier League clubs come to the fore for him?
Who the fuck is gonna buy wilfried in afcon? We did, and it was dumb.

Really? Even though pep has said he is important, and everything points to him being bought for pep? Glad our new boss isnt so fickle as you lot. Oh, and we are buying lots of young forwards for 3 reasons. A. Hih resale value. B. High brand value and c. Not putting all your eggs in one basket.

That's why I said if, a video compilation isn't the best way to judge anyone

In theory that is perfect but that's not really how it will likely play out. I'd be amazed if we didn't dip into the market again next summer to make moves for next season's break out stars. What if Sane has a similar season to last season's Sterling, and then another young German has a breakout year? There's just too many variables to suggest we see perfectly set up for the next half decade.

What if Iheanacho doesn't want to wait until he is 23 to play regularly. Ditto for Sane or Sterling.

I'm half buzzing but half sceptical with everything at the minute. We hardly have a good track record of showing patience with young players, but we do have a track record of continuously wanted to buy the 'next best thing'. I just hope there is a method behind the madness.
We have covered ourselves. If 2 of sane, roberts, sterling, moreno or jesus make it then we are ok.

It's also not a lot of young forwards. Formation depending, City could quite easily have four attacking midfielders and forwards on the pitch at any one time. With the number of games played, we will need at least six players to occupy those positions and that is conservative.
