In theory that is perfect but that's not really how it will likely play out. I'd be amazed if we didn't dip into the market again next summer to make moves for next season's break out stars. What if Sane has a similar season to last season's Sterling, and then another young German has a breakout year? There's just too many variables to suggest we see perfectly set up for the next half decade.
The arguement would be, we shouldn't need to. But we all know we're probably looking at a 50-50 at best when it comes to buying young talent.
Hypothetically Moreno might be very good in Spain and rightly or wrongly judged not good enough for us. Likewise Roberts in Spain. They are young and will fetch us big fees.
What if Iheanacho doesn't want to wait until he is 23 to play regularly. Ditto for Sane or Sterling.
If Iheanacho isn't prepared to be one of two senior strikers at City under the best coach in the World before he turns 22 then I'd show him a video of Balotelli.
Regards Sane or Sterling, it's on them. They have the platform to show how good they are. A manager who will nurture their talent. It's on them. In my opinion, both won't make it here. But both will be young enough to recoup huge fees especially considering the coaching/experience they'll have had.
I'm half buzzing but half sceptical with everything at the minute. We hardly have a good track record of showing patience with young players, but we do have a track record of continuously wanted to buy the 'next best thing'. I just hope there is a method behind the madness.
