Absolutely.

I have to qualify that by saying his actual defensive tecnique in his own half, definitely needs work, ie he has a habit of knocking people over sometimes ;) But he has serious discipline if he's told to do a job. some games for Brazil, he just moved to fullback & stayed there when instructed. Had no ego wanting to run forward & show off, just worked for the team. Then suddenly, he's in the oppo's box when cover arrives behind him.
Also for his size he has good leap. You can add his hold up play and his tenacity on the list.

Watching the highlight reel on YouTube of his 42 goals he has great instinctive ness. He reads the ball realy well and strikes first time and quickly. He is a better version of Raheem I think.

I agree and think it is best to wait and watch him live.
I was wondering if anyone on bluemoon has seen him live.
Had pep ever watched him live, apart from 2 training sensations.

There are certain things you don't see
on you tube.

Hope he's ready for the bench v spuds.
woodisome not the place to start.

I've seen 3 or 4 of his games since we were linked with him, not in the stadium, but watched the whole game. It's not as good as being there, but obviously you get a much better grasp than watching Youtube highlights.

From what I saw he is seriously quick. I mean absolute lightning from a standing start, like Walcott quick. He's also a fighter / a grafter. His determination reminded me a bit of Tevez, not frightened of anyone and will fight for every ball. I don't think the physicality of the PL is going to a big obstacle for him, although he does tend to make a huge meal of it when he gets fouled, which referees and opposing fans will get on to very quickly.

I have to say on the negative side though, I was a bit worried about his first touch. He reminded me of Iheanacho a bit in that he's clearly an intelligent player, clearly has excellent technique and huge potential, but he does sometimes miscontrol / take a heavy touch and give the ball away. Maybe this is just nerves, or the eagerness of youth, or he's still developing his technique, I'm not sure. He's technically very good, but he's not at the level of Sane or Sterling at controlling and running with the ball imo. Yet. He's obviously still developing.

I think people expecting him to come in and take the league by storm and expect him to drag us to the title are expecting too much too soon from him. He's 19 years of age. Probably the best 19 year old I've ever seen was Anelka, and I don't think he's close to the level he was at the same age. I think more realistic comparisons are Sane and Iheanacho - huge huge talents, among the best in the world at their age, definitely ready to play at the top level, but not yet quite at the level to be playing in every game and being a key member of the team.

I expect him to come in and do well - maybe have two good games followed by an indifferent one. I'm sure he'll score a few goals for us. But those expecting him to come in and tear the league apart, be our best player and win the Balon D'Or in his first season are going to be disappointed I think.

Don't want that to sound like a downer - he's probably the signing I've been most excited about at City after Aguero, but I just don't want people to heap unrealistic expectations on the lad. Let him settle in and develop a bit before we expect match winning performances every week.

Sensible post, mate. He's pretty raw and this is a big transition for him in so many ways.

By the way, Ric. Have you introduced him to Bluemoon yet?

Think the bonus with him is not too many managers will be clued up on how he plays or what he is really like on the pitch . We have a big ace up the sleeve for at least a month or so when he plays

Indeed. He doesn't fit the usual Brazilian stereotype of being a lazy shrinking violet.

Any manager telling their players to 'stick one on him and he won't want to know' will be in for a shock.

I think his first touch is fantastic & he's miles miles miles better than Anelka in every possible aspect of football apart from pace, where he's only a bit better.

If any if you want to find him, you'll find him in Bem Brazil on Deansgate. Alone itch all the over Brazilians.

Haha ok mate let's wait and see if he has as big an impact on the PL as Anelka did at the same age.

Anelka scored 17 goals in 35 league games the season he turned 20. But it was his 3rd year at Arsenal. We have 18 games left so Jesus playing 15 of those and scoring 7 goals isn't beyond the realms of possibility!

The previous season Anelka managed 6 in 26... which is worse than our Kalechi's 8 in 26 at the same age!

Yep, agree with pretty much all of that. I worry that some Blues are expecting the Messiah with this kid, cos whenever I've seen him (and it's been limited to 3 or 4 Brazil games), he's occasionally looked a bit raw. Scores goals, scorching pace, decent control in tight situations, but the same issues Sterling sometimes has when running with the ball, heavy touches, etc. One for the future for Pep to mould IMO. Looking forward to seeing him in action though

For every 1 commenter expecting him to be the messiah, there's 100 telling everyone not to expect anything or put pressure on him.

The vast majority of City fans are very excited to see him play, that's not the same as expecting the world of him.

Jesus himself said he was coming. To play on the left a while back. It makes sense, we desperately need another goal threat amongst the forwards, as Navas can't do it and Sané and Sterling just aren't regular goal scorers yet.

Also good to have him on the left as Sterling has seemed much more dangerous on the right. Might be a brilliant combo and can last a decade!
