this can not be it 3rd party is not aloud in england and when signing him in the summer we must have knew what or who the ownership of him was

for me its down to something else and not to see him training or even at the etihad campus is a puzzle and something is not right behind the scenes maybe the talk of a riff with pep and Txiki are true and this would be why the hold up and something was wrong and city and pep have lost out

seems like something dodgy is going on. It does sound, like some have mentioned, that there is a 3rd party ownership wrangle with one of the parties trying to gouge a bit more money out of city. Which would be a bit odd to me if we have already agreed the deal and bought him, surely a contract was signed by all parties so there should be no recourse?
Or it could just be palmeras being dicks and holding his registration longer then they need to just to piss us off cos they wanted more money originally.

If we knows Pep is being offered a new contract in the summer, some fucker surely must know what is actually happening here.

Does that mean we could include him in the CL squad?

We have to have him registered by the close of the transfer window in order to play him in the league and the UEFA deadline for the Champions League is around the same time so he would need to be registered with us by then.

I read an article which indicates his former agent was trying to get 6m out of the sale but Palmeiras were refusing to pay him and it is going to go to court. In this article it said the former agent had posted screen shots of Whatsapp messages between him and Gabriel in which Gabriel expressed sympathy for him and even intimated that he was close to pulling out of the deal because of it. This was of course a while ago and he has subsequently distanced himself from the messages saying they were out of context. Either way, its a messy old business. Be glad when its all done

I thought 3rd party ownership was now outlawed world wide if so surely it would be the selling club in breach not the purchaser

Not if it was a past transaction. The club must sell 100% of his registration and we must then register him 100%. If any part of that is under dispute then he won't be registered as a player until it is sorted.

if united was signing him on the 1st of jan he would have scored 5 goals in 3 games by now and won PFA young player of the season

In James May voice.....'So, is he playing on Saturday then?'

The FA have just decided to save themselves and the officials some time and effectively banned the lad for a few weeks by not putting the paperwork through.

Is this right? For the PL, you can sign players on a free any time during the season can't you? In which case you must be able to register them any time during the season. And since we've signed him already, surely we can register him any time?

That said, if there's opportunity for the FA to interpret the rules to our detriment, well they would, wouldn't they.
