Galatasaray (H) | CL | Post-Match Thread

The team played brilliantly for the first half hour, but then their level started to drop. Despite that, we could have scored six goals if the players had been more focused.

City performance in the second half worries me, Is it second-half syndrome? Why the players performances decline in the second half? Why do the players seem so disorganized? Could their physical condition be due to injuries?

Always drama with the Portuguese lads - I mean Sporting, then Benfica. Phew! :-)

Erling should definitely have buried that header, but then he should also have been played in three or four times in that second half. Cherkhi taking too many touches on a few occasions tonight. Like he didn't seem to realise that you only have so much time to pass before your striker's offside?

Some sound performances tonight - Khus really looking the part.

RM being in the playoffs for another year a bonus, too.

I was amazed that the TNT commentary team were oblivious to our precarious position, even after Sporting scored?

I think part of the reason for the second half was that Gala gave it a go, they’d done nothing in the first half.

Through to knock out stage of Champs League.
Nearly through to final of league cup.
2nd in league
Still in FA Cup.

Not bad for a team in transition and hit by injuries.

Thank you Pep and team

Ps : Wish we played better in second half of games.
Nice post but those two games prior to Wolves will take some erasing ;-)

It really is quite ridiculous.
At halftime surely we’d be saying ‘keep it tight for the first 15 minutes cos they’ll be fired up’
We come out like we ain’t arsed and give the opposition hope.
I’d be checking our water supply for ketamine.
They changed the formation & style of play and we struggled for a bit

Liam Rosenior is already a massive bellend.

He's harmless. A bit "peak performance"/Diary of a CEO (that's the modern David Brent to you FOCs) but ultimately he's a young English manager trying to do his best with a job he's underqualified for and probably falling back on motivational platitudes because he's a bit unsure of himself at this level.

I hope he does well, just not too well.

The beeb news just had a report from the Etihad and was very positive about us, shame they didn't mention Cherki or show his goal. Game of two halves, first half very incisive with bags of energy from Doku.
Once he'd been kicked out of the game, we really vanished as an attack. Looking at Erl's goal tonight, why aren't we playing more balls in to him?
Anyway I thought the defence played well, along with big Donna, NOR played v well 1st half, Cherki lively. Need to be more clinical though.
Anyway we'll have our new lads and walking wounded back for the knockout round hopefully a late charge for glory......

Pretty much the same thing on the City + commentary. They didn't have a grip of what was going on until very late in the game.
