"In May 2005 Martin announced that the "sheer size" of his still-unfinished manuscript for A Feast for Crows had led him and his publishers to split the narrative into two books.[3] Rather than divide the text in half chronologically, Martin opted to instead split the material by character and location, resulting in "two novels taking place simultaneously" with different casts of characters."
He also said that if you had book four and five you could read the chapters in the right timeline! For me now that a lot of people read ebooks he should release book 4 and 5 as one ebook in the right time line..
Ah right, so book 5 just tells different characters in the same timeline of book 4. I got tired of reading about Brianne of tarth and the iron isles, just seemed to lose its path and was difficult to see where it was heading. Plus all my favourite characters just disappeared from the book. I guess those will be in book 5.
It was a monumentally stupid way of splitting it. A feast for crows is very hard going.
Completely agree - Book 4 was a tough read, and this was the wrong way to split it. Push through it though because book 5 gets good again, now i need to go and buy book 6.
