Game of Thrones - Season 6

I think the reason why people aren't complaining about the White Walkers is that unlike Dany they haven't been given the screen time. They haven't had 5 seasons worth of build up saying "we're going to do this" and then promptly not doing what they said they'd do. I would say that there has been barely 30 minutes of screen time of them over the whole series. From the top of my head, there was the scene in the pilot, battle of the horn snippet, the king taking and transforming the baby, sam the slayer, and then the battle last season. I would also say that Dany's storyline has commanded probably about 15% of total screen time. And most of the early part was her saying how she wanted to claim her birthright, she needs an army, she needs ships - and then when she gets all that - she doesn't cross the sea, and now is back to square one. It's been a pointless build up.
It's hardly back to square one, and saying that she's back at the start ignores her character development. Firstly, her dragons are old enough and big enough to destroy entire cities which means she's got the upper hand on her old self. Second, as soon as Drogon turns up, which I imagine he will at some point this season, I imagine the Dothraki will just bow down to her out of fear. Loyal army + dragons = good times for Dany.

Also, you're ignoring a pretty huge prophecy told to Dany by Quaithe, that pretty much explains why she's had to "go back" to the Dothraki: "To go north, you must go south. To reach the west, you must go east. To go forward you must go back, and to touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow." That quote is from A Clash of Kings, which was published in 1998, at least a decade before the TV show was even thought of. Her storyline hasn't been delayed for TV ratings, it's been plotted for almost 20 years.

Also, because of the location of King's Landing and Slaver's Bay in relation to the Narrow Sea, far too many people have presumed that she'll attack Westeros from the east, but what if she's supposed to go to Asshai (the most southern, eastern city in the Known World) and attack Westeros from its west side? GRRM has stated many times that the Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire universe is spherical, much like our own world. There's no use making judgements about a character's storyline until it's finished and, as we all know, Dany's still has some way to go.

Nailed it.

@Viridian

Your knowledge and enthusiasm is very impressive,i think we can label you a superfan?
Well, I've never read the books, but I do watch a lot of a guy on YouTube called Alt Shift X who dedicates his life to studying the books, TV show and fan theories. He's the superfan.

Can you point out where in the show that prophecy is mentioned? I can't ignore something which hasn't been been shown.

The show as I see it, is a different entity to the books. Albeit based on the same source material. I'm not arguing that her storyline has been delayed for TV, i'm arguing that it has meandered and been inconsistent...

Yep, you've not brought that up so I can't level that at you. That was everythingchangesbutblue, who criticised the progression of Dany's storyline while aiming a degree of cynicism towards the show's creators. That was what initially brought me into this debate actually.

You're also correct to point out that Quaithe never directly delivered that prophecy to Dany in season two, and it's fair enough that you consider the books and the TV to be very separate things, but Dany's storyline in the TV show makes a hell of a lot more sense when that prophecy is brought into play, which is fair enough. Plus, a lot of the creative decisions are still steered by GRRM who might have just decided to exclude Quaithe's prophecy from the TV show but have Dany's storyline play out as though it had been delivered, which is also fair enough.

I'm not really someone who defends the show as such, except when the book readers really rag on it for no reason, but Dany's storyline has been necessarily patient. By the end of the next season (in 2017) I think we'll know exactly why. You can go wild at the Dorne storyline and I'll just stand by and watch, though, because that has been a flat out bad plot.

My theory is that Sansa will get the wildings on her side, riverrun, and a few other houses backing her. She will try to take winterfell, as that battle is happening Jon snow will appear.

Hound and cersi vs mountain and the faith will be awesome

Last episode will be the iron islanders ferrying danaerys over to westeros.

Lannisters/Tyrell's will defend against dorne as. Danaerys invades and dorne will support her

White walkers will attack the north....Tyrion will be revealed to be a targaryean and ride a dragon, as will danaerys and Jon snow will Warg into a dragon.

Bran will control a lot of things and set the above plots in motion
