Game of Thrones (season 8)

I thought the Night King was from the Stark house and he was Brandon the breakers brother originally?

Also did anyone else notice that last season when Cersei was quizzed about being pregnant by Tyrion she wasn’t drinking wine? Then in the first episode of season 8 after Euron slipped away with her she was drinking wine afterwards? So was she lying to Tyrion about being pregnant or has Euron forced her back to drinking already?

She's probably being a bit tricksy with Euron and will tell him that the baby is his.

A lot of theories now leaning to the nights king being a Karstark originally and his sigil is a more basic version of their sun symbol.

Best and most crazy theory I have seen is the reddit one that he is actually Haviland Tuf and whatever planet westeros is on was one he visited, hence why his sigil is the milky way.

I think the symbol refers to the place of the white walker's creation where the man was tied to the tree and had dragonglass pushed through his chest to turn him into the Night King which Bran sees in a flashback. They've done it before in previous seasons.

i believe it was the Targaryen crest, if the conspiracy theories hold weight.... how else did the night king ride the dragon?? Or it was a message that he was coming after the breaker of chains

Yep, this is my take as well

Battle episode coming up

It's not the Targaryen sigil.

After consulting the Wiki for 10 mins -
The Night King is one of the First Men, who came to Westeros from Essos 6,000 years ago. The Dragons got discovered in Essos by the Valerians 5,000 years ago, and the Targaryan house came sometime after that - so long after the Night King was already a white walker, but in theory he could be an an ancient ancestor of the Targaryans.

It doesn't look like it is a targaryan Crest anyway just the same spiral motif used throughout the show. I can't wait to find out what spurred the white Walkers into action though.

One potential storyline that's been brought into a place to be introduced, but may not be.

In the books, the Golden Company were led by the surviving son of Rhaegar Targaryon and Elia Dorne and turned on the Lannisters, but there was no indication of their stance on Danaerys. This might not happen as Jon seems to have taken this Targaryen role.

Maybe the White Walkers are climate change fighting back against humanity, they can wipe it out and the Earth can prosper again.

Spoilers for s8e1.

I think, on reflection, the dragon-riding sequence is quite a sad scene in an episode that will be viewed through completely different eyes once the show is over. With the Army of the Dead approaching from the north, and with Sam ready to drop the bomb that Jon is a Targaryen, I expect 'Winterfell' will soon be recognised as the last moment we ever got to spend with these characters and simply enjoy their presence. The world is about to come down on top of them all.

There's a post further up this page that accuses the dialogue of being flat, but the action is centred around a line from Varys that captures everything this episode is concerned with in a nutshell: "Respect is how the young keep [the old] at a distance, so we don't remind them of an unpleasant truth: nothing lasts." Whether it's age, the Army of the Dead, or the fact that two star-crossed lovers are about to find out that they're each other's aunt and nephew, something is coming to destroy this temporary peace.

When Jon and Daenerys are out there, kissing and exchanging cringeworthy pillow talk in front of that waterfall, flying through the beautiful vistas in the North, they're having their "A Whole New World" moment. Usually that's the moment in a story where two lovers destined for one another create an unbreakable bond, and Jon being trusted so readily by Rhaegal is a huge deal for Daenerys. For her, it goes beyond Jon simply being good with the kids - he's good with beasts who only trust people they consider to be very special.

And yet, while we're watching them fly through this beautiful scenery and fall deeper and deeper in love, we're aware of a horrible truth that they're still ignorant of. They might survive the attack from the Night King, they might come to accept that Targaryens wed siblings for centuries keep bloodlines pure and that they're doing no different, but their relationship will forever be tainted. Varys' words echo throughout their scenes together. Nothing lasts.

This happiness was always going to be temporary but when it disappears it's going to be gone forever.
What a nicely written post. You couldn't finish the book for him could you?

Just seen an actor from this programme outside Tesco in Helensburgh, never seen a single episode but my cousin pointed him out

(Rory McCann)

I thought I'd join in and so, over the last 3 nights, I've stayed in with the missus and we have started to watch this programme.

Up to season 3 now. It's watchable. I'm waiting for the dragons to grow up. The battle scenes are a bit pish. But it's watchable. I'll stick with it.
