Game of Thrones

So.... John Snow isn't a bastard. He's legitimate! And thus outranks Daenarys Tygerean in the Tygerean succession tree. And that makes Daenarys John's bona fide Aunty..

The inglorious Bastards is probably more apt....

it all but confIrmed, even after the dragon meet between John and dani, that rhagaer was remarried, meaning mr snow isn't a bastard.... the fact that isn't sitting well is John is going to smash his aunties back doors in

Yes, but Targaryens traditionally were incestuous so that may be excused in Westeros... And thus a potential great irony of the story... it was incest that started the war of the five kings at the start of the story and an incestuous relationship between Dany and Jon that ends it... potentially

Thought this weeks episode was excellent. Intrigued to see how Arya, Sansa and Littlefinger plays out.
Surely Arya with her new found skills will be more than a match for Littlefinger. I hope so anyway about time Littlefinger got the finger!

Please help me out here I appear to have missed something important.

I thought Jon snow was Ned's bastard son with some unnamed girl. Now people are saying he is a true born taergaryan? How is this so?

Sorry if I'm being thick.

Clarkie?

Ned brought Jon back from the war and claimed he was a bastard. In the last season, via Bran we see a flashback to a young Ned arriving at a tower where his sister, Lyanna, has given birth to a child and makes Ned promise to look after him. She then dies following childbirth. The reason the true identity of the child is protected is that the father is Dany's elder brother, Rhaegar, the Mad kings first born son. We discovered yesterday, via Gilly in the citadel that Neds sister and Rhaegar were secretly married and therefore Jon has more legitimacy to the throne than Dany, whilst also being her nephew. The only person alive who knows this is Bran. Although a record of the marriage is recorded in the citadel - Gilly (and Sam) didn't realise the significance when discussing it in yesterdays episode.

Rhaegar was previously married to Elia Martell, their children were killed by the mountain - hence the beef with Oberyn and the Mountain in their duel.

In a nutshell, Lyanna (Neds sister) had a child with Rhaegar Tygerean (This was shown end of season 6 through a Bran flashback). She made Ned promise to look after him and to keep his identity a secret, as Robert Baratheon was going around killing all that had the Targaryen blood line. With this Ned pretended that Jon was his bastard child.

Now in last night's episode Gilly was reading some of the transcripts and came across one about Rhaegar marrying someone else in secret, before she could say it was to Lyanna Sam cut her off, on a rant about the Maesters.

All this proves that Jon isn't a bastard as Lyanne and Rhaegar were married, making Jon a true born Tygerean, and true heir to the iron throne.
