Game of Thrones

Yes, but Targaryens traditionally were incestuous so that may be excused in Westeros... And thus a potential great irony of the story... it was incest that started the war of the five kings at the start of the story and an incestuous relationship between Dany and Jon that ends it... potentially

thats what i was alluding to, mate.... knew this story was going that way, however, the show has disregarded so much of the history of the 'families' it's impossible not to feel a 'yuk' moment....

So I read somewhere that:

The Night King has his own dragon - that spits frost!?!?!?!

The justifications for it seems plausible. I think this is likelier true as the undead army would not stand a chance against three dragons unless they have comparable cavalry of their own

So the latest Jon Snow 'revelation'.....has it been confirmed and ive missed it? or is it more a case of 2 + 2?

Clarkie?

Ned brought Jon back from the war and claimed he was a bastard. In the last season, via Bran we see a flashback to a young Ned arriving at a tower where his sister, Lyanna, has given birth to a child and makes Ned promise to look after him. She then dies following childbirth. The reason the true identity of the child is protected is that the father is Dany's elder brother, Rhaegar, the Mad kings first born son. We discovered yesterday, via Gilly in the citadel that Neds sister and Rhaegar were secretly married and therefore Jon has more legitimacy to the throne than Dany, whilst also being her nephew. The only person alive who knows this is Bran. Although a record of the marriage is recorded in the citadel - Gilly (and Sam) didn't realise the significance when discussing it in yesterdays episode.

Rhaegar was previously married to Elia Martell, their children were killed by the mountain - hence the beef with Oberyn and the Mountain in their duel.

Thank you. Clearly when I binge watched them I didn't get the significance. It's now a lot clearer. Cheers

Does anyone else think that Sam might have cottoned on to what Gilly said which is why they have left?

No. I think they would have made it a more obvious bit of realisation from him. He just decided to act after continuously being ignored.

IMO, the maesters will look for Sam and discover the book / passage Gilly was reading open on the table. They'll still need to piece together that Jon was the product of that marriage though...

Your prob right, feels like there is still a lot to get through. Gutted there are only 2 left then a 2 year wait. Gives me time to watch it all again though.

Well... I'm waiting for Amazon to offer this season's broadcasts for sale... I'm too chintzy to sprint for an HBO subscription.
