Garcia and Kolarov....

Wasn't impressed with Micha but i'm hoping that was just simply due to him being so rusty due to not playing for what seems an eternity!

Kolarov hasn't really offered us much all season IMO and should be shown the door... how much did we pay for him?

But hey what do i know, he could be the next best thing since sliced bread with some careful management and some skilled coaching on key areas of his game?

Do you think with the right coaching city could turn an average player into a world class player?

Absolute dog shit the pair of them.

Staggering that have cost us best part of £35m.

Garcia is just one of those players who seems to fill a space on the pitch without impacting on any play.

As for Kolarov, seemingly a great guy, but a liability. His passing is so short and rarely see him make a defensive tackle in his own part of the field.

Worrying that Platt singled AK out as one of the better performers.

Beat me to it Bluefen. Kolorov was all over the shop for 80 mins. So wasteful it's unbelievable. I think we should be prepared to give Garcia a bit more time. I honestly think he needs a bit more time to settle in, socially as well as the football side.

Nothing wrong with Kolarov's passing. Far better than Clichy in that regard. He has a good football brain but as we know is a liability defensively. No getting away from that. He can put in a good last ditch tackle and on occasion defend ok but he lacks the concentration and in many ways he doesn't WANT to defend. He is a lot faster getting into positions then he is getting back to defend.

Last night he made a lot of good runs, his crossing was poor but usually it is a lot better than that. Don't forget he hasn't played in a month either.

Anyway, he will be off in the summer so no need to woman about him more.

Kolarov wasn't good enough from the minute we got him, but was ok as emergency backup.

Garcia is pure Wank.

All my own opinion of course.

Garcia is a better player than he has shown, but he may not be cut out to play Premier League. In a team which covers for his deficiencies & makes use of his attributes, I think he probably is pretty good.

For City, it looks like he is, & will be, a complete failure.

Mancini has signed him, along with Kolarov, Rodwell, Nastasic, Maicon, in the hope of playing 3 at the back. DeJong was too small, but Rodwell, Garcia, Nastasic are all people who can knock the ball around as a back 3. So far only Nastasic has showed an ability to actually play in the team, although I rate Rodwell for the future, if he ever gets fit.

I hope Garcia is the last signing for that system, & we start signing players for other systems instead, otherwise I fear it will cost Mancini his job next season.

We should sell Garcia in the summer imo.

As for the 3-5-2, I can see the method in the madness but 3-5-2 means would only work in Italy where play is slower and more tactical. You are correct in saying here he's doesn't fit. He's simply too slow for the game. He'd prosper somewhere like Milan or Napoli imo.

A 3-5-2 in the Premier League needs loads of pace imo. Out wide, in def mid & at least one, maybe two, at the back. Keegan's 3 at the back system was arguably as good or better one than Mancini's with SWP as wingback & Distin, Dunne, Van Buyten (Micah?) at cb. Swings and roundabouts to compare.

Still nowhere near a title or Champions Lg winning unit then or now.

For 3-5-2 I reckon you'd need Baines on the left and Alves on the right to be at it's best.

You'd play Nasty, Vinny and Zaba as the three, have Barry and Yaya as the two and Silva as the man in front with Aguero and Dzeko/Tevez alongside him.

For me it's a half hearted mimic of Juventus that he's used as a plan b width option. The problem is our midfield is much to slow to offer the adequate protection required for such a system.

-- Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:18 pm --

We paid £15m for Kolarov, he's on near enough 100k pw too. That's £10k more than Arsenal paid RVP last season!

Kolarov is fine as a back up left back. Admittedly I'd rather we got rid of him and brought in someone young on lower wages (Luke Shaw?) but how many clubs have top class reserve left backs?

We need to give Garcia time. We've been through exactly the same argument with Gareth Barry and now look at his standing in the team. Garcia is a good player. He might not fit into our new system but let's not write him off straight away eh?

Kolarov has anything but a "good football brain". Defensively his positioning is awful and he's easily caught out, we've seen it many times.

Attacking, which is where you expect him to make up for being unable to defend, his crosses usually end up in the side netting or over the bar and his shots usually end making people in level two duck in fright. Sometimes his crosses (and free kicks) do come off but that is the law of averages coming into play where if you do something 100 times it's bound to work once or twice.

Yesterday he was in acres of space and his crosses were woeful, one actually had to be saved by the goalkeeper which he meant as a cross but looked like a shot because it was misplaced. You need only look at someone like Baines for attacking left-backs with proper end product, probably on half the wages too.

He would ideally go back to Serie A but we've given him such a big pay packet now it'll be hard to move him (according to TMW in Italy today, who were discussing Juventus' options for a new left-back, he earns £850k/year more than our first choice left-back!).

Too right. Just like Garcia, Rodwell (has real potential but most likely going to be a perma crock in all honesty, any evertonian would tell you the same), Sinclair and Maicon, just fucking tragic really.

I'm hoping the fat is trimmed, and we look for upgrades on what we have rather than more inferior quality players in the squad.
