Garcia and Kolarov....

Nothing wrong with Kolarov's passing. Far better than Clichy in that regard. He has a good football brain but as we know is a liability defensively. No getting away from that. He can put in a good last ditch tackle and on occasion defend ok but he lacks the concentration and in many ways he doesn't WANT to defend. He is a lot faster getting into positions then he is getting back to defend.

Last night he made a lot of good runs, his crossing was poor but usually it is a lot better than that. Don't forget he hasn't played in a month either.

Anyway, he will be off in the summer so no need to woman about him more.
You're obviously watching another team.

Kolarov is terrible.

The only positives people are mentioning regarding him are in an attacking sense, as a left back that's worrying.

The usual City fan disease of having to find a scapegoat. I thought Kolarov had an ok game, no worse or better than anyone else.

You won't have two better left backs anywhere else in the country. I like Kolarov and get him wide on that left foot and you can always sense that something good could happen. One of the sweetest left foots around and always a danger from free kicks.

With the lack of support he's getting he's probably lacking confidence.

I always feel sorry for the full backs at this club as they are the ones that will tend to get the vitriolic shouts all game and it can't do anything to help your performance.

Some of the posters here are in their own way as useless as Kolarov and Garcia. Why they seem to need to criticize players who play for Serbia and Spain respectively is beyong me.

OK Kolarov is not as good as Clichy. Fine Garcia is not Yaya. That's it. No need to heap abuse on them.

Kolarov is not good enough but has actually been one of our better players in the 2 poor champions league campaigns. Everyone needs a 2nd choice fullback I don't think there would be any rationale in having 2 world class left backs.

Garcia however has been utter shite and no matter how blind some of you want to be where he's concerned he will never be good enough because he simply cannot move. His passing is also not good enough. His only party piece is the occasional header from a set piece. Get rid.

I never understand the hatred for Kolarov..

I keep hearing he's lazy, doesn't try, doesn't defend well and is inconsistent with his deliveries and free kicks..

I like him, I sit lower tier Colin Bell, so when he plays it's normally in front of me in the second half.
He always seems to be pushing the team forward, always trying to inject pace in to our attacks. He is more often than not playing in a weaker team, a team that is often struggling to break the opposition down. I see kolarov as a essential part in many games against the lower sides.
He drives us forward, and hits crosses and lots of crosses into the box. As discussed elsewhere, this is how United often break sides down, repeated hard hit crosses are inconsistent, but when effective lead to goals and mistakes leading to goals.

I know he's a little hit and miss, but so was Carlos, he was loved all over the world, I doubt his 20 year career yielded as many goals as Kolarov's so far.
Beckham was good for what 4,5 maybe six free kicks per season, Kolarov wouldn't be too far behind that in what a fifth of the games?

I hear time and time again what a poor defender he is, I can't think of a single goal that he was responsible for. I would be interested if anyone had any examples..

I agree he is not the best defender, but he's not the worst and I think whilst being way behind Clichy in our team, he is a very decent back up.

6 seconds in. Loses a 20 /80 in his favor.

Except nobody is being used as a scapegoat are they?

People are just voicing their own opinion on two players.

-- Apr 18th, '13, 19:18 --

Also, pretty sure Sporting last year he was at fault for one of their goals. First leg if I remember

And the Spanish national manager too?

City struggled tonight because a lot of the team were playing on empty. Nothing to do with Garcia, although I don't like it when we play him and Barry together. Only works if Yaya gets forward a lot, and he wasn't. Basically the whole midfield just sat there and left the Wigan back 4 untroubled, and Nasri alone was left to run at them from deep.

But then you footballing dinosaurs probably don't rate him either

Yes that whole 1 cap for the national team as a sub is proof of his "quality". I don't get the way some folks grade him on such a curve. If he plays mediocre then it's proof he's quality. Nothing is expected of him but to be "OK". He's not expected to effect the game in any way. If he clearly a couple balls on corners he's soemhow done his job. I don't get it. He's a less effective version on NDJ yet he's good while NDJ was constantly critisized for his lack of effect on the game. Why do some feel it's important to make excuses for the guy? If he was playing for Stoke he'd fit right in and he'd be an acceptable player. We're not Stoke. We can't win the PL or CL with this guy in the starting 11.
