Garden Birds and wild birds thread.

Got loads of Goldfinches at the moment they love Sunflower seeds, so going to buy another anti Squirrel and large bird feeder, also a couple of Robins seem to have taken up residence, feed them and Blackbirds Mealworms
Goldfinches particularly like nyger seed. Most birds like sunflower hearts (i.e. without the shell). Our nuthatches love them.

My kitchen (in Yorkshire) was visited by a woodland cricket the other day. I believe they are very rare in the uk and unknown in the north.
Anyone know anything about these creatures? (A rare failure by wiki to impart anything useful.)

I am still at the mercy of a killer cricket. Can nobody help me?

Getting really sick of the neighbouring cats, 2 of them, coming in the garden all the time, using the back corner as a toilet and stalking the birds. There's noticeably fewer birds at the moment, I presume they've been spooked.

I'm very very close to going after these cats with the hose pipe, the little bastards. "Oh you know cats lol, they go wherever they like!". Don't mind me if I drench them then.

Even in a 5th floor flat in Oldham I can watch a bit of nature. My window overlooks a (very small) wood but it's lovely to see the odd squirrel, and even a fox now and then.
The birds are lovely to watch too.

We've had a long running problem with a stray cat that seems to live under our decking. However, we also currently have lower bird numbers but that's because they're busy nesting. We've seen blackbirds, starlings, robins and nuthatches among others who are busy collecting beakfuls of food to take back to the nest but not in the usual numbers.
