He's doing the right thing. It was obvious at the world cup that he's a shadow of the player he was in his prime. His legs have gone. He can concentrate on his golf now.

Good player in his Spurs days. From a footballing perspective going to Madrid wasn’t good for him although from a financial perspective it was obviously very, very good. I expect he’ll turn his attention to trying to make it on the European PGA Tour.

Top quality player. Aside from his club football. He took little Wales to two European Championship tournaments (including reaching a semi final) and their first World Cup finals since 1958. He was pretty much a mercenary disgrace in his last years at Madrid tbf and their fans are right to question his commitment. Yep he had a contract but surely an elite player is better than doing what he did? Basically used them as a training camp for Wales gamesCan't argue with his form at spuds and the CL games at Madrid when he was given the chance. Will always be questions around why he didn't play more. Any way, he can focus on his golf now.
