Every team in Europe is scouting for this type of player and we have a very raw version in Suarez.

No we don't.
Suarez is nothing like Bale,he has neither his pace or directness. He is in the mould of Silva but has a long way to go......

This was in reply to finding a David Silva-esque player...?

And yes we do play 4-2-2-2 or 4-2-4. However you'd like to describe it we do not play with 3 attacking midfielders.

-- Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:02 am --

I don't think 4-2-2-2 is the future at the European level. Bale would likely play in exchange for a striker in most bug matches. It's the matches verse sides like QPR where we could afford to rest one of the 3.

OK we need to rest him. But neither he, Sami nor Bale would like being rested for big games. What we need is a younger version of Silva to fill in occasionally.
We only play 4-2-2-2 on Fifa, not in real life

Think you need to examine the difference between a formation against the set of players on the pitch. We play with 2 holding midfielders, 2 attacking midfielders and 2 strikers. Only in very limited circumstances have we played with a sole striker.

I don't understand why people think we couldn't have Silva, Nasri and Bale. I very much doubt that all three will play at once but with injuries, suspensions and general rotation to stop players getting tired we could accomodate all three in the squad. Silva looked absolutely dead on his feet for a couple of months in the middle of last season, despite going out in the group stages of the Champions League and the 3rd round of the FA Cup. With more games we need more quality players.
Whilst I agree with your sentiment. Silva did play 4 games in the Europa which is akin to getting to the 1/4 finals of the CL in terms of games played plus we got to the semi of the CC.

I agree with you though, we need to be able to rest him without overly weakening the team.

We need a completely different option than Silva, Silva can be ineffective against teams that are very strong in central areas like Napoli with 3 central defenders and 2 defensive midfielders as protection. Surely you can see the advantage of playing Bale up against a wingback like Dossena? That option alone would have made Napoli's tactics change because they couldn't have packed the central areas and marked Bale as well, that is why we need a pacey, direct winger. Even Martin Petrov would have roasted them down that left hand side that night but we don't have someone in our squad that can do that job.

There's ways to beat every system in football, that's why Barcelona despite being the best team don't win every game. You need to give yourself as many different options to win as many of those games as possible. The players in our squad are bright enough to know the team need different tactics against different opponents so leaving one of Silva, Nasri or Bale out wouldn't cause a problem.

With it being a 'Bale' thread i obviously thought it was he to who you were referring, didn't realise it had drifted....... All good.

Where does Nasri play then

......................................Hart...................................
.....Micah..............V.K...............Lescott..........Clichy
........................Yaya.................Barry.....................
..................................Nasri...............................
......Silva...................Aguero................Bale.........
End of Discussion.

you just dropped Joleon Lescott who was part of the best central defensive partnership in England last season - strange end to a diiscussion?
also have we not already found out that yaya is better when pushed forward??
We cant play yaya upfront because that will leave a hole in the midfield no matter how good he is upfront.I am confident That Nasri,Silva and hopefully Bale are more then capable of doing the job upfront well.

Bale would be an excellent acquisition, there aren't many players like him out there. There are plenty of wingers that can run fast but there aren't many that can deliver accurate crosses into the box without decelerating like Bale does. He chips in with some valuable goals to of course.

He seems like a model pro aswell and an overall good guy so I'm sure he would be a popular team mate. If he's happy to be part of the squad rotation policy Mancini has then what a signing he would be!

I can see AJ leaving to pursue first time football so Bale would be ideal to fill his spot in the squad.

even with just Bale as a new addition to our squad is good for me;

Hart

Richards - Kompany - Lescott - Clichy

Yaya - Nasri

Silva - Aguero - Bale

Dzeko

'Arry has gone because apparently Levy was selling players behind his back...

that seems like a lot of speculation unless you've got a source for that pal
