The only reason the Modric transfer didn't work was because Modric got on with it had his performances dropped Levy would have tried selling as soon as possible before his value would have gone down. Seems players have to kick up a fuss to leave like Ben Arfa and Ba did.

A top manager could indeed reinvest the funds they would get for Bale and Modric (possibly VDV too) and build a fantastic team... there are so many great bargains out there right now! Marvin Martin just moved to Lille for £8million and is a super player who is good enough for a top 6 English team I reckon.

When you've got next to no money to spend you're always going to have a higher percentage of failures. £6m for the four of those you mentioned. We got Hart at the same time and he's worth 2-3 times that.

Agreed, fingers crossed Moyes gets the job, then if the lad has any sense at all he will be out the door rather than be one of the 10 behind the ball....

Exactly no one went for Ben Arfa because of attitude problems and Santon, Ba because of Injury concerns. Never heard of Tiote though they got him for 1m he did play for league champions in Holland but that's probably because of the dutch league not being considered that good. You would have thought Liverpool would have gone for Cisse because he had good stats playing in a strong league.

Re: Bale. I think he is just the type of playeryou need. I also think you could do with some more guile in centre midfield, for when Yaya is missing. Maybe a Sniejder type player or Modric.
