Seemed odd to me too. If we got Martinez, which is now looking unlikely, he would surely take his place next to Yaya in the midfield.

As has been pointed out Yaya is devastating played further up field. So selling Tevez and moving Yaya further forward is an option.

The reality is we would then need a mobile, good passer of the ball to sit alongside Barry.

We do not need Gareth Bale in the type of formation we have been playing.

If we left out Nasri maybe but he's just getting into form for us.

Yaya would create loads of space for us as he surges forward.

Who is the CM then?

I don't understand why people think we couldn't have Silva, Nasri and Bale. I very much doubt that all three will play at once but with injuries, suspensions and general rotation to stop players getting tired we could accomodate all three in the squad. Silva looked absolutely dead on his feet for a couple of months in the middle of last season, despite going out in the group stages of the Champions League and the 3rd round of the FA Cup. With more games we need more quality players.
