What this also tells us that the Spuds have made a decision on the managerial position.

No way Bale would of signed a new contract without knowing the above.

AVB, we're just waiting for July 1st.

Good luck with him but I'll give him til Xmas

I guess we'll see, I'm a bit unsure but I'm not going to judge him based on the time at Chelsea.

I think he's better than Redknapp at least.

I think he'll be a top manager if he's given the time.

If im not mistaken; AVB and Mancini had identical records for there first 19 games in terms of AVB at Chelsea and Mancini first taking over at City.

Thank GOD he signed a new deal, he is very good winger but I think City can bring someone better than Bale.

Outstanding at this level? I beg to differ.

At HIS level, he's one of the most highly rated 18-year-old midfielders in Europe by scouts and we beat three of the top teams around (Real, Barca, Chelsea) to sign him. He recently got rave reviews playing for Spain U19 too out of his usual position on the wing.

Don't just take my word for it... or maybe you're suggesting Mancini can't spot a young player?

Mancini gave him his City debut at the age of 17, all I'm suggesting is we try and promote from within even if he might not give the instant results a Gareth Bale type would but could save us a lot long-term.

I can only judge him on how I see him play for City. Roman came with an even better reputation and he's already departed.

Suarez might prove me wrong, but too many of the Youth Team Mafia have blue-tinted specs when it comes to the kids they follow so devotedly.

I remember being told that Lee Croft was the next Figo!

Why promote from within if they're not good enough? To make it from the youths these days you have to be exceptional, and we've not seen one of those at City for some tiume now. I remember you and I having a fair bit of disagreement a few years ago when I suggested that no matter how many millions we pump into recruiting the players and building the facilities, it will all fall down if we don't have the right leadership at the top. I stand by that still.

You might still think getting coaches from Chesterfield and Leeds is good enough, but it isn't. Be honest, it's not is it?

Agreed.

Can someone have a word with him before giving interviews and tell him to cough or have a drink of water or sommat? That voice is fcuking annoying.....still, suppose it's better than 'Arry's twitch. ;-)

Not at all, Roman hasn't even won caps at youth level for Spain past under-16 level. Suarez has been the star player of Spain's under-19 team lately and keeps being pushed up age groups meaning he is progressing constantly while Roman perhaps wasn't - at least not enough to keep up with his Spanish compadres.

He doesn't even play for our academy side (played against the rags and that's about it for the U18s) because he's too good for the level designed for his age group. Like Rekik, he was fast tracked to reserve level because he's a superior player to others in his age group. And like Angus Gunn was too good for U16 level and was pushed up to U18 and NextGen level at the age of 15.

I remember being told that Lee Croft was the next Figo!

Huge difference, we're operating at a different level now where the club have the means and ability to identify a truly high quality youth. Suarez's fee could rise to £2.75million, we wouldn't have invested this sort of money unless he was a serious talent. That's probably the most we've ever spent on a youth player.

Why promote from within if they're not good enough?

Hasn't recent history shown that if a prodigious youth is given a chance around top level players (in moderation - sub appearances, secondary games to start), he has a greater chance of improving to the level required than by playing at a level like EDS which he already seems far too good for. Wilshere would not be as good as he is if Arsenal had not given him chances at the same age Suarez is now, and I don't believe Suarez is an inferior talent to what 18-year-old Wilshere was in any way. In the EDS games, Suarez's brain operates on another level to those around him. He makes passes and dross like Scapuzzi don't run on to them because they don't have the ability or awareness that Suarez does.

You might still think getting coaches from Chesterfield and Leeds is good enough, but it isn't. Be honest, it's not is it?

Well, I agree with this now, our youth setup needs an overhaul of personnel. Starting with Andy Welsh.

Ah well, at least we're in agreement now, even if it took you two years to catch up! ;-)

Maybe in another two years time we'll agree on Suarez as well?
