Gareth Bale

A complete flop and hopeless will be the result after the end of the next season for both player and club, worst step from the both the parties, he will become again the shadow of messi, who ever played for Madrid always had a pressure to be compete with messi like comparison and performance wise , this is messi yard and the players there are more technical and quick rather then here in England , also there is a different ball game there , the intensity and pressure are too much to be handle, chasing only one club like Barcleona the fame and flare and pressure of Classico .... Is just wow for anyone. In Spain you need to chase not only Barcelona also messi and and league table , if you flop or didn't score regularly then your future will be like big flops in Madrid and Barcleona .

Madrid always looking for big names , bale is one of he new big name in England, that's catches everyone, like Madrid who are supported by local Government outside and inside by refree. In my opinion, it's a wrong decision by him to go Spain.

Have to disagree...
Any player, just like any commodity, is worth what somebody is willing to pay, shirley.

No doubt. But is anyone else willing to pay that? Would they be willing to pay that next season? Bale will leave at some point. This year or next year. I'ts a matter of time. By putting off the sale he leaves few choices to replace him with this year. They are willing to go over the odds this year to get him early, to make thier own "splash" and outdue Barca's purchase of Neymar. Barca probably won't make a 50m purchase that Madrid have to counter, leaving them less likely to pay over the odds for Bale, especially if they shell out 50m for Suarez. It's a real risk to turn down 100m for the hope they make the same offer in the summer.

There is paying a certain price for a player that the club feels he is worth but then there is Real Madrid getting there man at any cost....

I will hold my hands up end of season if it works out but i can see this being a major fail for both Bale and Madrid.

My house is worth £175 000. We would never dream of selling it after all the hard work i have put in to it - but if someone knocked on the door tomorrow and offered us £400 000 I would snap their hands off. The same goes for anything in any business. Your goods are only worth what someone is willing to pay. I bet most bluemooners would sell thier property or car (or wife ;).) If the price was right.

I hope he does go Madrid. He will probably fail as I dont think he has the ego to live up to the hype.

AVB said very clearly in a press conference today that he's not for sale.

SSN have been running the interview this evening.

This deal is either not going to happen, or it's Spurs trying to maximise his price. I think they will have to sell him otherwise the player will be very unhappy

They said the same about berbatov and Modric, that neither were for sale, it's their way of bumping the price up. Without CL football to keep him at Spurs it will be almost impossible to stop Madrid getting him

Reports say Madrid have only offered 20m in payment with the rest in installments, surely its not in Spurs interest to do this. I would demand full payment or no deal.

I could not work AVB out. He sounded very genuine. If its true that Real Madrid want to pay £20m pa, then maybe spurs are better off trying to keep him. If they sell him now, it will be difficult to get new players in and get into the top 4. Once you are outside the top 4 it's not easy to spend 50 or 60m on world class players if they only have eyes for CL clubs

I've read that RM are going to businesses to get them to invest in this Bale deal, then I read this offer of installment payments. So is this just the way bigger transfers work? or does it indicate they do not have the cash?

I always thought the Spanish government funded RM, when they needed cash?

AVB always sounds very genuine, he is alot like rodgers in that respect, he is good for the press, he gives a good soundbite and knows how to work the room and says all the right things but realistically he probs knows bale wants to go otherwise why say the things he said, he could have just come out and said bale has told me wants to stay and we had a conversation with real to inform them of that fact. But all he has said is that they shouldnt have gone public with the conversations because the player isnt for sale, it sounds great in an interview like spurs standing up to the big bad real but all it is doing is setting the scene for them to be able to say well they offered so much we just couldnt refuse in the end a bit like what happened with us and fernandihno.

So the best indicator of whether this transfer is going through will be spurs activity in the transfer market. Their first priority should be a central defender.

Is Bale the start of the end where someone has to put their foot down somewhere and say that's just ridiculous.

Only say this as Rodgers has pointed out that if Bales worth £100 million then they have every right then to probably ask for £130 million for Suarez

whose the better Suarez or Bale???
