Gareth Bale

If Bale was available for £20mill down and the rest on the drip the queue of clubs wanting to buy him would stretch round White Hart Lane several times. This is another Real style transfer MO, unsettle the player by publicly saying they want to sign him for a ridiculous figure and then try and get him on the cheap( relatively) because the player is angling for a move there. The selling cub either have to hang on to an unsettled player or agree to Real's terms. It stinks, but of course being the mighty Real they can get away with it.

I'm pretty sure that's how it often works for foreign transfer in or out, the buying club pay the fee over the length of the contract given to the player. For transfer between english clubs you pay for it in a maximum of 2 payments, the first on signing and the second 12months later.

It's bugging me as well, no doubt he is a good player but he is not one of the best in the world by a long shot
I"ve said it before and I'll say it again, Bale is just typical, talented British speed merchant and nothing more than a £30m-£35m player tops.

Madrid are fucking nut's to pay more than that. And finally, why is no-one accusing the great Real of ruining football? Now if it was Manchester City.........

Hahaha. Can't understand why Madrid would overpay for a typical talented British speed merchant? Perhaps that would be because he's not.

I'm still waiting for you to explain why he's world class.......

Fast strong direct, technically not great, won fuck all and hasn't managed to drag spurs into the top 4.

£30-£40 million tops imo, if Real pay this they're insane.....

Bale may not be worth the money Madrid are apparently going to pay but I find it hard to believe anyone could deny the fact he is a world class player. He has the potential to be a 40 goal a season player and to be honest, if we could sign him for £80 million, as over priced as it is, I'd be delighted if we did.

1 good season followed by a very good season and he's suddenly the most expensive player in the world.

Sorry but that's utter bollocks.

Plenty of players have the potential to be world class and very few achieve it.

If you picked a world team/squad, would he be in it?

I doubt it, certainly not in mine.

World-Class is a term used too lightly IMHO. Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Goater, the pretend Ronaldo, Maradonna, Pele, Zidane, Cryuff, Xavi, Iniesta and players of that ilk are world-class.

Below that come international class where players like, Batistuta, Figo, Rossi, Baggio, Roberto Carlos, Henry, Van Nistlerooy, Shearer, Gerard, Yaya, Aguero, Suarez, RVP, Rooney, Eto'o, Tevez, Fabregas, Bergkamp, Scholes etc.

Then below that we get Champions league rated and on current form and with what he's achieved so far this is where I'd place Bale at best. In here you'd get Lampard, Terry, Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand etc.......

I'm not saying Bale can't and won't improve, but no way is he up there after one very good season. the aforementioned players have proved over time that they are up there and Bale still has a lot to prove in my book.

Ridiculous money for a very good but nowhere near, world class player.

Spuds should rip Madrids arm off and laugh all the way to the bank.

Bale is a rally good player, but does not have the X factor to make him worth anything like £100M. Madrid should see sense, fuck Levy off and leave spurs with a pissed off player who they have to keep and motivate (or sell to the next highest bidder at a more realistic £50M)

Good to see we are not ruining football.

Top earning players (net) in the world according to Marca (assuming Ronaldo signs this new deal). Where are the destroyers of football tradition and soul on this list?

Eto'o 20 M
C.Ronaldo 17 M
Messi 16 M
Neymar 15 M
Ibra 14,5 M
Falcao 14 M
Rooney 13,8 M

Nowhere near world class? Absolute clown.

Have to agree that bale is a exceptional player! But to offer more for him than tranny is ridiculous!
He half as good of that! So 40-50 mill in my opinion!

But then again if andy Carroll is 35 mil then on that reckoning I'd be 30 mil! So in that comparison maybe it's a fair offer ;)

Not a chance of scoring 40 goals a year. He was Spurs only real scoring option last year and that boosted his stats. With Ronaldo he's be lucky to get 20. Even if Ronaldo left he'd still not score anything close to 40 because of the talent aorund him. The team will never be built around him like Spurs was or like Madrid is with Ronandlo.

Can't take you seriously when you're saying that Goater is in the same class as players like Messi, Dinho, Pele, Zidane and Maradona.
I really do hope you were kidding.

I'm guessing life just passes you by.

Anyroad, is there a national Messi day? no there isn't
a national Pele day? no
a national Zidane day? nope
a national Maradona day? no again
a national Goater day? bet your sweet arse there is

The Messi's of this world when faced with a goal scoring change will strike the ball sweetly with their foot into the net, way too simple for our goat who was do that whilst still in nappies no the goat would opt to use the left nipple or right arse cheek to demonstrate his other worldly skills. Not convinced? His robbing of the ball off the lad gary chuckle before slotting in from an seemingly impossible angle for any mere mortal ensured his world class status and any City fan, no any football fan, who doesn't rate the goat as world class knows nowt.

He is getting absolutely slaughtered by the Spanish media, his team mates are saying shit bout him and basically freezing him out and the fans are on his case every game. Considering the eye watering sum he was bought for would it be possible at all for City to make a bid for him considering FFP?
