Gareth Bale

Well Wenger has had his say alright. Saying it makes a mockery of FFP. Wenger is such a fucking hypocrite..Wanker
FFP wasn't introduced to restrict the spending of Real Madrid or the rags it was to prevent City and some clubs from the former Soviet states from gatecrashing the party. Doesn't appear to apply to PSG unless things are being hidden behind bungs possibly linked to the Qatar world cup.
Beckham played for PSG for nowt (or very little) but is rumoured to have been promised big bucks as an ambassador for WC2022.

But yes, Wenger is a fucking hypocrite, and possibly a wanker.

A couple of points to add. You're right about FFP being devised to impede City, but isn't it just a bit ironic [and enjoyable] that on this occasion, the Bale deal will make rivals Spurs that much stronger which will, probably, keep the Arse out of future money raising Champions League campaigns? And as for Qatar, they of the same ilk as Abu Dhabi, perhaps David Conn will drawn into an exposé of that Middle Eastern state too.

I'm sure Conn will have a pop at Qatar and link it to PSG, Beckham and Platini at a convenient time.
As for the Bale cash getting Spuds to 4th place: It has long been suggested that Arsenal would be the hardest hit if they missed CL participation for a couple of years. The EL would probably give then a bit of a cushion but if Spuds spent wisely and City, Chels and rags continued to qualify then Arsenal could have to rethink their entire financial strategy. Or oppose FFP and bring in lots of dosh from dodgy sources.

But they also cost a lot more, so improvement would be expected.

The foursome came to about £85m in total, isn't that what Madrid are rumoured to have bid?

Wages.

Alright 3 players then.

3 players at £65m total. Wages of £240k/wk total

vs

Bale at £85m and wages say £140k/wk.

So an extra £100k/wk = £5m/yr = £20m over 4 years. £65m + the £20m extra on wages = same cost as Bale

I'd FAR rather have 3 quality £20m+ players than 1 Bale. With all the cash splurged on 1 player, what happens when he gets injured or turns to shite. 3 quality players would improve Spurs immeasurably and be far lower risk.

He's a good player no doubt but these figures are complete bollocks, no way is he in the same league as players like tranny and messi. I'd snap madrids hands off at anything offered above 50m.

British players get slated for a lack of technique but now a British player is on the cusp of breaking the world transfer record to sign for a Spanish club.

You'd be a terrible chairman then, as Levy looks like getting double that ;)
