If we were in for Neymar who's likely to choose one of the Spanish two, then we must go for this lad.
Him, Cavani and Fernandinho. Anything else is a bonus but these are musts.
We cannot allow United to get him, Real Madrid fair enough but no not United.
I'd be very surprised with the figures being banded about for Cavani if we can add Bale onto that. Here's hoping though!
I reckon you're talking £100-120m for the three but those three come in and upgrade our first eleven. Midfield bolstered, left wing sorted. Clinical front man for the front of 4-3-3.
All makes sense. We sell Dzeko, Garcia and Kolarov and we get £40m and that means our net spend is £60-80m but that's tv money and balotelli.
We need top quality incomings, not tier 2-3 players. Bayern have walked Europe so far and they've just signed Gotze and are looking at Lewandowski, Suarez, Falcao and Cavani. We need to do the same or at least attempt to.

-- Thu May 09, 2013 12:30 pm --

It really depends how much we have learnt from last summer.
We only need 2 or 3 new faces, but if they are of the highest quality that will really freshen the squad up then that could really propel us to being a true force in Europe.
I just hope we have learnt from last summer in that 2nd/3rd choices and gambles aren't always good enough, especially in the short term.
I can't see us getting both Bale and Cavani. From Txikis apparent philosophy of:
1) blue chip performers
2)the best available
3)The most promising young players
I imagine both Bale and Cavani are classed as category 1- the best players in their position. I doubt we are looking at two of those, with the money they will cost. Not sure, I am only basing that upon the way we did business last year, and the fact we have clearly been looking to curb our spending.
Fernandinho, who looks pretty much done by all accounts might fit into category 2- don't know enough about him though.
I agree.
The thing this season is new tv deal money, balo sold, rsc-bridge-kolo-Johnson-others are off the wage bill. We have money to play with and we have more possible sponsor deals.
We have to go big this summer.
