Disagree. Bale would be more than just 'a great buy.' He is wanted by every club in the world, he would be a huge statement of intent. Would take us to another level.

I'm not going to disagree with that...but Bale is the next level up in extremely difficult signings to pull off
He is currently rated as one of the best players in the world right now and although our team is brimming with world class talent a Bale signing...maybe not on ability alone but definitely in wow factor...is the next step up

after missing out on isco, not bothering with cavani, selling carlos and saving on not only his and all the other ones who have left surely there is money in the pot?? we must have had a decent budget ready for the summer so its a no brainer for me! if its £60-70m pay it! get rid off kola and maybe nasri and its been a great deal.

We seem to be losing the capacity to think beyond the tabloid newspapers we so deride. Players like Bale are tabloid headline signings. Iniesta said the nearest player to Navas he could think of was Bale, and people actually mocked him saying that. I'm finding it all very confusing. We were shit and played well below par for most of last season and finished 2nd. I daresay if everyone of those players lifts their game by 20%, which we certainly know their capable of, we'd have won the league last season and none of this fear would be around. As it stands I'm happy with where we are. Last season's big problem is gone and that alone should account for a far better season performance wise than last. All will be well.
As for Bale himself. People should really forget having any serious hope. It's not happening - it couldn't be clearer if he rocked up on the backpage of the Sun wearing a Madrid shirt. That's where he wants to go, and that's why his agent keeps appearing on Marca TV.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Ozil. That's way more likely if this rumour is to be believed. Isco, Kaka and Modric then battle for his old place.

I am not suggesting he is coming to us...but I am suggesting that the statement above is no better than the media bullshit we deride
Nobody knows where Gareth wants to go except himself...his motivations are unknown.
What I can say is...that if he did not fancy going abroad...and lets face it...moving to another country with all the factors is a big decision....then I think we would be a very viable option for him should he wish to stay in the UK
