Either we're in for Gareth Bale to a rather large degree, or he is the stupidest footballer in the world and about to get absolutely blasted by Real Madrid.

Can you imagine Sergio turning up in Vitesse with Roman Abramovich holding a shirt with a massive grin on his face?

What goes through these lads heads?
 
I don't care if Keith Lemon and Ali G were in the bar, this is going under the noses of my rag mates to watch em implode :)

I don't see it as an issue really. Bale could have asked permission off Madrid. Aren't we a bit pally with them at the minute anyway. Real Madrid could never play NYCFC in a competitive game. If it was a city shirt that's a different story but we are different clubs.

And everybody knows no player at the top of the game would sign for an MLS team so Madrid may have given it the green light.

I imagine any request would be met with "No! Are you joking?!"

It's more about brand association and all that type of stuff, having pictures out there of one of their marquee players taking pictures in another teams shirt will irritate them

You really believe Bale, stood in a bar, phones up 'Real Madrid' to ask if he can have his photo taken with a City shirt ? Who does he phone at 'Real Madrid' ?

Look, David Moyes was at the game as well.. Are we to assume that he´s our new manager? lol
It was simply that it was "The" game in New York this month so many celebrities attended, among them a fair number of football people.

No. I don't think that. I do however know NYCFC are sponsored by Adidas. As is Bale. So it may be an Adidas corporate event type thing that Madrid were aware of. Madrid will be aware that players have brand responsibilities.

The photo with the jersey may have been spur of the moment and maybe he will get stick for that. But it would be of no great surprise if Madrid were fully aware that he would be at the game and therefore highly likely to meet Soriano.

He does come across as fairly dense.
 
Only way for this to happen would be for us to agree that Serge could go to RM. But just dreaming for a minute, Bale, Sterling, Pogba, DeBruyne suspect they would need the extension on the other stand sooner rather than later. Back to reality, not going to happen is it?
 
People seem to be reading a lot into this.

So Bale attended a New York City game while on holiday, caught up with Lamps, enjoyed the hospitality and posed for a photo. Big deal.

Soriano saw the opportunity for a bit of PR while one of the worlds most famous players was around.

Being a polite, humble lad Bale clearly didn't mind.

As you would,even after the Madrid fans have been on your case.
Not doing himself any favours is he?
Not saying there's anything in it by the way.
 
Not a good idea of Bale's but it does not mean he is coming to City.

Might make Liverpool think a bit but I think the Sterling deal to us is done. Just waiting for FFP and July before announcing.

Signing Bale would be great but I don't see it happening this transfer window.
 
He never did come across as the brightest however I think Preston has it bob on, I'm guessing that's going to be auctioned for charity (the photo probably acting as proof).
