The OP is right, Barry has done well for us but the way some of you go on it's like we have signed Viera, Keane and Zidane all rolled into one.

Let me ask you this then...say in theory Robbie's fit and automatically starts...who do you drop?Me its Barry and Nige and Superman playing behind him..or would you rather drop Nige?

Also which other top 4 team plays with 2 defensive midfielders every week?None.

Pool..Mascherano

Scum...Fletcher or Carrick or Scholes in that role

Chelsea..Essien

Arsenal...Song.

Why do we need to play 2?Barry should be more of a Lampard role for us alongside Stevie but generally is camped outside his own boxc with Nige.Do we really need 2?
.

This has to be a pisstake surely??
If the OP can't see what Barry brings to this team then there's no hope for him in all honesty.

I must admit to being slightly mystified at the level of praise Barry has been getting. True, most of my viewing has been on TV but you don't need to be live to see poor passing. I'm not saying he is hopeless or a bad signing, just that maybe he hasn't been quite as good as some would have us believe. And like the OP says, is he really performing the DM role better than De Jong? I feel that a De Jong/Ireland combo looks our best bet at the moment. Would MH have taken off De Jong on Monday if he hadn't taken a knock? And Kompany only complicates the matter further.

A nice problem to have.
