I've been his biggest critic because, frankly, he hasn't been good enough. Today was his best game in a City shirt and shows he can do it. He looks like he's lost a bit of weight which will help.

Now he has to keep it up.................

Word. Time for Barry to get the credit he deserves!
 
He looks much better when he is not with De Jong, for some reason. Maybe De Jong forces him to play more advanced than he's comfortable with.

Didn't lose the ball much today and no silly passes.
 
Have not been the biggest Barry fan but he was truly immense today. Top complement to a side with that much talent going forward.
 
I know Dzeko had the game od his life but Barry was MOTM for me..
Unbelievable performance, he was everywhere, mopping up, starting moves, assists in goals and nearly scored a screamer.
 
Barry is quality, but i'd have de jong in front of him every game(big game) don't forget the only time this season we looked shit was the first half against swansea, when 2 holding midfield players were in use barry and de jong( it wouldn't of mattered which 1 came off it was the formation) with the attacking options we have we dont need the odd goal (in play) from the back 6/7. In the C S we should of brought barry on at half time to kill the game but waited till it was 2-2 when we looked like we were gonna get a pasting and was only a (typical) last min goal that they got!
 
Barry reads the game very well and has excellent anticipation. This makes him ideal for the DM spot. He can also pick out a pass and hit them very well first time from outside the box.

Looks quicker this season as well, very lively. Nailed on starter for me right now, even over De Jong.
 
DJ cramps Barry's game,it was so apparent last year and may have even cost us points as,through a lack of options,they were both required to play which restricted our tactics,we do not require both in the same line up now as our depth and attacking flair removes the need.
I just hope whoever gets the nod,the other remains content and waits his opportunity which,given our game count,will be plentiful.

Barry is class. He has always been class and will in the future. The tactical roles he has had to play have not reflected how good he is but recently they have and -what a class act he is proving to be. Gaz Baz you were IMMENSE TODAY - luv it!

I have by no means been his biggest fan, but I will admit that this season he has been outstanding, he seems to be re-invigorated, he even chased Defoe down yesterday when defoe had 10yards on him. His short passing was his only negative this season, but yesterday it was spot on, he was fizzing the balls into the feet of serge and dave, brilliant performance.
 
I agree with the previous post. I've not been convinced by barry, but he's been excellent this year.
 
Always been a fan of Barry. Too many people focus on his lack of pace and ignore his work rate, positional discipline and the fact that referees love giving him free kicks when he sticks his arse out and falls over. Top player who brings out the best in his team mates.

I think your eye sight needs looking at also. Some people just can't be pleased when it comes to certain players, I've never been Barry's biggest fan in the world but I can't stand it when fans can't hold their hands up and say when he's had a quality game.
 
I don't agree that DJ and Barry can't play together. It's not a case of Barry playing better because Nige is out, it's just a case of Barry playing better. I reckon it might be because he's realised that with Nasri coming in he actually has to work to get in the team. Also, if anything I would drop Yaya at the moment, he's looked shite lately, possibly down to the fact that he's in ramadan so can't eat or drink during sunlight hours.
