Gareth Southgate

Germany and Spain were poor but they’d be much tougher in the quarter finals than Sweden. Also, Brazil, France, Belgium, Portugal, Uraguay.

But most of the teams you mentioned didn’t make it to the latter stages; they were beaten by a better side, at least on the day.

As with any competition, if England are ultimately triumphant, there won’t be any caveats saying, "England won the World Cup, but they didn’t play Germany, Brazil or Argentina on the way". It will simply say "2018 World Cup Winners England".

Like others, I was unsure about Southgate when he was appointed, but he has done a great job and has stuck to his guns with both his system and personnel.

This is still a very young team and Southgate should be allowed to develop it and bring in new faces as and when needed.

Even though they didn't make the quarter finals?

They weren't even eliminated by any of the other 'top teams' you've mentioned.

They were eliminated yes, but they’re no doubt better teams than The likes of Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland etc. They just had bad games, for instance Spain lost on a shoot out we went through on one. The only big teams that have delivered have all been on the opposite side of the draw as us. Just trying to not over exaggerate this run the way many are.

fair play to him and his eagerness to learn from pep. Lucky draw , took a calculated risk against belgium and it paid off

all the best to him !

Results rather than reputations make 'top teams'.

I'm not sure what you think these teams have 'delivered' given that most of them have been eliminated.

He is doing all this with this set of players.

Wait until he gets his hands on the u20/u17 World Cup winner's from last year and the u19 European champions from last year.

Make sure you come back on after the Croatia game and don't disappear if you think we're great your deluded pal

By delivered I mean lived up to their reputations. Brazil were a good team they were just unlucky to run in to another good team in the quarters. It’s pretty obvious don’t know why I’m even having to explain myself.
