Gareth Taylor

As I said before, sad to see her leave, but there is a sour taste to it in the end the way she's managed the whole situation...

I wouldn't loan her to Arsenal either, but I guess the defender coming our way from them is what made the club accept the loan (reluctantly I hope)

Well it sounds like Arsenal also agreed to pay her wages whilst United weirdly expected us to help cover them.

Really sad how it's turned out. Taylor has a reputation for freezing players out like this and generally being quite bad at managing people. It's not the first time he's made people feel like this and I think the club needs to look at whether or not it's acceptable to have someone in charge who has repeatedly seen his relationships with players turn toxic.

On the flipside, whilst i have some sympathy for Kelly's position with regards to being frozen out, it was wrong of her to go online and misrepresent the situation in order to try leverage a move to direct rival. She's always seemed a really decent character and I disagree with anyone who is baselessy accusing her ego of spiralling out of control post euros. She's always seemed pretty down to earth and very welcoming to new players who have arrived at the club. It's disappointing for her to have turned down a decent move (which is only for 4 months) and then make it sound like the club was holding her captive.

I think the biggest issue was that this last season she didn't really deliver on the pitch. If she had done, then she should have been playing and it could have made it difficult for Taylor.

As it was, Park, Fowler, Hemp and Shaw, all deserved to play more, then there were the new signings too, who would also get a chance.

Completely agree. Her form dipped badly, she lost her place legitimately and given it was clearly she wasn't going to be staying it made sense to give other players minutes who were playing well and had a future at the club.

I have no problem with Gareth Taylor dropping her, but when you drop a player you don't need to marginalise them at the same time. He has form for this. I'd really like him to be shown the door to he honest. The optics are bad and he isn't producing results on the pitch either.

Kelly hasn't delivered on the pitch consistently for at least a couple of seasons. Shame how this has all ended. Hard to know the rights and wrongs from a distance.

So very true. We don't see what goes on inside of the confines of the club. We're not privy to all the training sessions and other events that involve the players or club officials so can't say for sure what has gone on. Chloe Kelly obviously wanted what was best for her but that wasn't what was best for the club and they decided (rightly in most City fans eyes) that going to the ragettes didn't work for them and so an acrimonious split has occurred. Remember teh good times we've had together and forget the rancid aftertaste of the departure.

She's off the Christmas card list though.

She's not on mine either. She has never been on it simply because she's repeatedly refused to give me her address. :)

Taylor very poorly managed Rose Lavelle. Unlike Kelly who shined for a short period of her career, Rose has been consistently an outstanding player. A player of her caliber started only one game and played a relatively few minutes during her tenure at city. I don’t remember Rose badmouthing the club when she went back home. She did acknowledge that her time at City was challenging, but also added that this experience made her a better player. That what truly professional players should say when they go through a bad experience. I wonder what Kelly will say when she formally leaves the club a few months from now. On a different note, I have a sneaky feeling we are witnessing the last season of this coach. The club will ultimately wake up, and he will be gone in summer. Granted, it is all baseless prediction.

Have you seen his training sessions? Crossed arms, strolling about, doesn't appear to get involved. Don't get me wrong, the direction of training might come from top, applied by his on field coaches. Whatever the reason, the book stops with him. As long as we don't replace with Phil Neville.....

Taylor may well be gone in the Summer but we have a wider problem to address. Many of our players over the last decade have considered City a stepping stone and very much second (possibly third rate) compared with playing for England. Our players always turned out for national teams, even in weeks before trophy deciders against Arsenal. Contrast that with Arsenal and Chelsea players who were often mysteriously ill or injured at similar times. Maybe our players did the right thing but it also indicates a lack of passion for our Club. This happened before Taylor and will probably happen after him.

Agree, I was very disappointed with the way she was managed. It was a major coup to obtain her signature and I was really looking forward to seeing her play. As with a growing list of players it didn't work out thoough.

There seems to be an underlying issue with Gareth Taylor who doesn't seem to be popular amongst City players, past and present. I suspect this is his last season.

That all said, Chloe Kelly's hysterical public histrionics are bang out of order. She signed a contract at City and she was not in our best eleven this season. It happens. That's football. She still got chances which she didn't take. She wanted to go to United which is totally unacceptable for a player under contract to City. Publicly spitting the dummy out and slamming the club with lies is not the way to leave a club. Really poor, I have to say. Kelly has accused the club of "planting stories" and "assassinating" her character. It's not City's way as a club to do that to an individual. Chloe Kelly has assassinated her own character with her pathetic social media rants. Good riddance.

Who makes the decision on Taylor?
Guessing it would be Therese Sjogran and Charlotte O'Neil. You'd think having left a club where she'd had a lot of success Sjogran will have her vision for how the club moves forward and will have wanted license to do that. She doesn't really seem the type to have much time for Taylor's nonsense so I hope she's putting a list together of suitable replacements.

I hope she is too. I still can't believe we extended his contract. On the pitch management is an area we are losing ground on.
