Garry Cook resigns

Bullshitter undone by bullshit.

It's almost always the way, eventually.

Now, that might seem like a harsh judgement but my whole criticism of Cook was based on his horrendous characteristic of wanting to ingratiate himself with everyone on a bizarre level, whilst not necessarily backing up his words with facts or being able match the overwhelming level of his bluster. The fucking bizarre situation where he gathered an army of fawning, star struck fans who wouldn't hear a word against him (despite, just like everyone else, knowing very, very little about his true attributes and capabilities) because he had schmoozed them.

The ridiculous greetings on film to Tevez and Nasri, a sure fire giveaway of someone desperate to ingratiate himself with those people by using what he assumed to be their sort of body language and speech.

The soundbites where he painted himself to be the biggest supporter of City fans ever seen, without particularly backing it up.

It's all indicative of an unhealthy characteristic and one which almost always, ultimately comes back to haunt such people.

In this case, his bullshit and bluster gene kicked in again and instead of doing what most calm and experienced execs would do and thinking carefully about how to handle the situation, he reverted to type and tried to get away with a blurted out line of spin. Because that's what he thought she would like to hear and he's a 'tell people what they want to hear' type of bloke.

The sad thing is, for Cook and his supporters, is that he almost certainly would have had some characteristics that were very useful to City and things that he was very good at. But his over riding need to be liked by everyone and tell people what they want to hear has stuffed him up.

A dangerous characteristic and not one I'd want in any successor.

(PS: for all the criticism I've had of him, I have got to praise him for the Champion's League tickets. Signs of him living up to his own hype on that one. Fair play. Ironic timing though.)

(You have to laugh at the drama queens who think we are stuffed now though, as if Cook was the prime factor and the brains behind all the progress at City. We'll continue to do very well, thank you.)
This isn't necessarily anything to do with who said what when. It's more to do with the gutter press printing a year old story and wanting him forced out. Regardless of what he did to give them the ammunition at the end it still stinks of manipulation, by parties NOT connected to City or having the clubs interests at heart.
And that is what pisses me off.
Ian Wright is rumoured to have something to do with this......Ian fooking Wright!!!!! I now wonder if it was left until the transfer window closed because of his son and his options.

Big battle for power on the horizon now

Whoever's next CEO should undergo thorough psychological testing to ensure they're not suffering from Dunning-Kruger, like Garry Cook clearly was.

Is it not the case that everyone does? - otherwise there'd be no theory.

Re: Garry Cook resigns

SWP Leaves and the Onouha's who are good friends with Ian Wright publish an e mail received 11 months ago in the Sun.

Nedum had fallen out with the club before his move to Sunderland last season.

I wonder how many times the email was "used" in negotiations in the interim period ?

They wanted him out and they got him out.

Garry Cook did more for this club than any of the people laughing now.

Re: Garry Cook resigns

Don't think Dr Onuoha's move will help Ned. Not only has she made her son's position at City impossible, does she believe that we're gonna help with a favourible move now. Look at Bellers, he was in a similar position to Ned (left out training and squads, out on loan, etc) but cause he kept his dealings with the club in private, we made it possible for him to be able to go to a 'top' club. It's a shame for Ned but IMO he'll be lucky to get a team in the prem now. And it's a real shame cause I liked Nedum.

According to Mancini's interview today on OS Ned will be shipped out in Jan, Bridge to be shipped out to a championship side. Mancini only included Ned because homegrown but I don't think his attitude has changed towards the player who he said would not play for MCFC.

Oh, and add the Noel Gallagher napkin incident to the examples of the bloke being utterly obsessed with ingratiating himself with people, to the detriment of his profession (CEO of City, that is, not marketing - I imagine that sort of characteristic was parrtly responsible for his previous success).

I've seen long serving, popular player receive far less emotion filled send offs than many on here are giving Cook - a bloke in a suit. Not only that, but a bloke in a suit whom they have absolutely no idea as to whether his contribution to City's success was unrepeatable, what any semi competent businessman would achieve in such an exciting opportunity or somewhere in between.

The fact that many of them are prefixed by "I've met him" or pictorial evidence of such shows that his concerted effort worked to some extent. A lot of people have a lot of trouble separating the concept of "best man for the job" from being star struck.

Did ur pal Ollie Holt help you write that when you bent over for him on twitter?Disgusting conduct licking a journos ass at a time a siege mentality was needed by us,regardless of our opinions over Cook.

Rather amusingly, I've never conversed with Oliver Holt in my life, on Twitter or elsewhere.

@ollieholtmirror if he goes city bottled it...in reply to ok,heres a prediction! If Garry goes, the football world will join to mourn his passing. We may not see his like again

Theres also some stuff there you sent to Daniel Taylor, who in fairness wasnt as snide as Holt in his coverage of this.

and while I'm at it that little fbloke dick deserves a slap for his licking the presses assholes, constantly at it in the futile hope of getting some itk info.dick.forum is far better without him.

And yes I am sat here fuming over the treatment of Garry Cook.

Ouch; is that someone's petard causing a hoist?

Re: Garry Cook resigns

Ned is a decent lad, it doesn't help that his mum is trying to look after his finances, she is out of her depth and the "advice" she has been given hasn't helped her, her son or the club. Don't take it out on Nedum.

To be fair to Garry, Noel made that up.

He made his bed. He's a grown man, not a child. He doesn't like how people are reacting? He should have considered that first then.
