Garry Cook resigns (merged)

Re: Garry Cook resigns

Just watching back the Spurs match, Cook at the end seems fairly miserable given the scoreline. And then on holiday while all this goes down.

I wonder if the Sun article was as much of a surprise to the club as we might have thought.

Re: Garry Cook resigns

If we employed David Dein then Kia would be gone very quickly along with all the other weasels.

Khaldoon is top dog and that won't change.

Indeed. I think part of the problem City (and some other PL clubs) have is that the CEO's role isnt really that of a CEO in the conventional sense. Khaldoon is more than just a Non Executive Chairman. And the Manager has has much more power than would be normal for an employee that reports to the CEO.

Apart from being very well paid, it isnt really the sort of job that would appeal to many top rank CEO's.

Being CEO of a club like City is a massively appealing job to other CEOs. Ego drives many of these people and it offers a sort of fame.

Re: Garry Cook resigns

what did kia actually do?

been away from a computer since this all happened and my phone internet is too slow to browse all the threads, So unable to keep up with everyone's role in this saga (especially those with less media attention).

if someone could be so kind as to summarise for me I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Of course the article wasn't a surprise to the club. The original statement revealed as such:

Following allegations made to the football club by Dr Anthonia Onuoha, subsequently reported in today’s media, the Club can confirm that a board led review has been launched into the matter.

Re: Garry Cook resigns

Sad to see him do as he has overseen a huge change in our fortunes, HOWEVER I never warmed to Cook and it really doesn't upset me. There have been times I've been a little embarrassed with the way he conducted himself on the bigger stage. An unprofessional email in any large organization will come back to bite you, it's the reality of the corporate world which is full of crocodiles, all of which have a smile on their chops saying "Trust Me"!!!!

Re: Garry Cook resigns

Thanks for your contribution Garry, sorry that the powers that be have appeased the sub human slime that is the gutter press esp vermin like Custis.

Apparently he's responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews during World War II.

Remember thinking the same thing. Astute observation - I think you may be on to something. Though if true, it does seem strange that the club seemed a little unprepared when the news broke.
