Jesus can we not just delete this thread and start again?
I'm not a lover of RIP threads for all and sundry either but this is bad.

Why not keep the thread and just delete the offensive ones.
Suppose thats to easy.
Would be a start I guess :-(

Doesn`t look like a goer from the Mods for some reason. ;)

Moderation or censorship? I prefer common sense.
RIP Gary Ablett, I didn't know him personally but I enjoyed watching him play football.

Bollocks is it, I fucking hate these threads.

Did you lot know the lad? Are you going to wake up in sweats next month crying that he no longer exists?

A quasi celebrity is dead. Writing RIP wont bring him back, wont bring comfort to anyone and is a piss poor way of showing respect. Its the laziest way possible, write a quick, entirely insincere comment then carry on with your day.

If you actually care,go and find out his charity of choice and make a donation in his name, which would be a fitting way to honour his memory; posting RIP in a thread in a City internet forum is meaningless lazy drivel.

This kind of pseudo mourning is a fucking joke. You aren't even bothering to share memories of him, just writing RIP then carrying along on your merry way. If I was part of his family, this type of insincere bullshit would piss me off more than comfort me.

Let me guess.. you didn't spout this nonsense when Neil Young and Mick Doyle passed away?
And I'm sure you don't remember them as footballers, you're way too young.

And I seem to remember you starting a thread about the death of some scientist very few had ever heard of. Was that somehow different because you started it?

Was that insincere?

Ah well, at least it's not as bad as your previous efforts in defending those who sing songs about Munich or the use of the N word... it's progress I suppose.

Could I give you a piece of advice? You're a very clever writer... but you're not funny. Never have been and I doubt you ever will be. Stick to what you are best at.

Stick to what you are best at.

That can be the only reason he ever got the gig as a Mod...

I knew him well. Spoke with Gary and Jackie many times during his period of treatment on the Haematology and transplant unit at the Christie. I last spoke to him a couple of months back and wished him well for Xmas and that I'd see him last Tuesday when I was back on the unit. You could tell he was struggling with the treatment but I told him to keep positive.
We always spoke in depth regarding our treatments, our families, our hopes and our fears.
Sincere condolences to Jackie and the children.
RIP big man. Gutted.
