Gary James interviewing Noel Gallagher about City

I'm guilty of giving Noel and Liam a bit of a hard time (not that they'd care) when they're discussed on here or in general conversation with pals. More to do with my thoughts on oasis and their respective careers since oasis split up I have to add.

I've somehow allowed myself to think of them both as your typical Soccer AM guest who knows very little about the club that they support and is more of a face than a supporter.

However many good points have been raised on this thread about Noel and Liams support for City and when you think about it, they've done a shit load of things that'd raise, or give us any profile at all at times so why I allowed myself to think of them both of faces rather than the proper supporters they are I don't know.

Got a trip up to Shap in my truck tomorrow morning so I'm looking forward to listening to the interviews.

I think that what struck me most listening to the first two posts was that if you got any City fan of my sort of age (I’d have been the year below them at school) and talked about City over a pint you’d have the same sort of conversation because we all have the same memories - all those quarter final defeats, your memories of the day of the takeover, the shite strips we got and the odd belter in there as well, your first game some time in the 70s, your favourite player from when you were a kid.

Like Gary says, I’m not sure you’d get that if you were talking to Eamonn Holmes or Mick Hucknall.

Indeed.

I got this away kit for my Birthday for the sole reason that Liam was wearing it

I also remember having a “City” t-shirt and City keyring in the style of the Oasis logo, sold by the club.
The Saturday night concert at Maine Road was incredible, earlier that day went to Villa Park and we won, came back for the concert and they blew the roof off the place.

Noel has had a very good impact on our credibility and standing, he is a intelligent man and speaks well.

Liam shoots from the hip, but the older he gets the more likable he becomes, he may be an utter c8nt at times but he is our blue c8nt.
Ha, Liam's not a c8nt mate, he's a comedy genius, then again maybe it's because I grew up with lads (before Liam was born) with that same sense of humour that I get it.

Met him a few times, he's a c8nt but incredibly likable and very, very funny.

Like I say above mate, I can see how a lot of things Liam says and does can be taken the wrong way, don't get me wrong, I guess I'm pretty desensitized, but he's a WUM (just ask Noel), he knows exactly what he's doing.

I love the guy, you don't have to defend him for me.

I knew Mani from the Roses very well, Liam is his best mate, those two together was comedy gold, both great lads.

Mani must be having sleepless nights with Saturday on the horizon.

I lived in Hong Kong in the mid-nineties. Often, when I saw a City shirt I would have a quick chat. Nine times out of ten the wearer would know fuck all about City but love Oasis. The rags I knew hated it - so that’ll do for me.
Plus, because I was well into the music it got me my first DJ gigs over there.
The Noel or Liam ‘who would you like a pint with?’ debate divides people. I prefer Noel but my lad’s Liam - so they’ll have to reunite if they want to come for a pint with us in Porto ;-)

Part 3 is now live:

In part three we discuss Garry Cook (that’s the Garry we refer to at the start of this), both of us (separately) meeting Khaldoon, earning the Champions League, earning success/buying success, opening up the Premier League, Oasis influencing support in the 90s, a Zurich based Oasis influenced band called Mania and inflatable bananas. This will run for five days with a section added each day.
