Gas & Electricity

We backed up the downstair fires before going to bed so they would still be in the following morning. No central heating so hot water bottles in all the beds, warm your feet on them and you were sure to end up with chilblains.
My bottle was a dog. My central heating was internal: bread and dripping for tea, with extra salt for health.

Reading your posts you should enter politics but you seem a very decent person so maybe not.

Thanks for the compliment....I think lol. The problem we have in politics is the majority of people running the country come from affluent backgrounds. If you've never struggled and suffered you can't; understand just how that feels. They can imagine it but it's not the same as living it. Then an MP is on £80,000+ a year and very generous expenses. If they were on £30,000 a year, still more than many earn and didn't have rich parents or partners I guarantee things would change very quickly.

You had real hot water bottles ?!?!!??!!
Ha, seriously though mate, we used to fight over plastic bottles round our way, fill them with hot water and use them as many couldn’t afford a hot water bottle, but those paraffin heaters (or the little gas ones the council put in at the foot of the stairs) were an absolute godsend in winter.

Oddly about the coal fires though, as a kid always remember my Mam getting up early to get the fire going before we got up, we’d get dressed for school, have our breakfast, almost sitting on top of the fire, great days in some ways.
Yeah, rickets and polio,
Fucking marvellous.

I’ve been saying this for years chapo, all the leaders of all the major parties are rich, public educated hooray Henry’s. Until we get someone who grew up on a council estate, and have struggled at times to get by, nothing will ever change.

Trouble is those damned voters. The vast majority come from modern middle class and they ain’t going to vote to increase taxes on themselves. Why do you rob banks…..cos that’s where the money is. Why don’t you tax middle incomes more?….cos that’s where the votes are.

Bang on the money ( what’s left)

Im actually starting to believe that the only way out of this mess we are in as a country is a en-mass strikes and protesting. I dont mean a few placards and a nice little walk through the town/city centres, Im talking about a full on non stop every day pitch forks out and burning torches....and causing enough problems that they are forced to change their stance

It will start in Liverpool, that’s what the Gvernmemt fear. First time we’ve seen Priti Patel for ages and she turns up in Liverpool giving them money. Sorry to be very sceptical but that’s what I believe, keep the Scousers happy at all costs.
