Yep. We have had the cold war in decades past, this is the new one but there is a totally different level of twat running one half of it. He has a very large percentage of the gas that fuels all his opponents, NATO countries and the EU. He has worked out that turning the taps off takes the sting out of both blocs, and he has nukes to threaten if that doesn't work and nobody can be sure he wouldn't use one or more of them. Using what we get from him, and so obviously paying loads more for less of it, is the consequence.
All that being a fact, we need to do more to solve the problems and help eachother and that means energy companies having to give back. They are raking it in presently. They have shareholders, that is the way they operate and have been set up and I won't use the T(hatcher) word but that is what was set up and that is what we have. Plenty of our parents or grandparents on here will have been more than happy to buy shares in the privatisation of the essential services and utilities back in the day, and plenty will be happy to take the inheritance of those family members when the time comes.
What we need now, in these awful times, is for a govt to step in and say enough and look after the populace. I'm sure a temporary renationalisation is unachievable, but a fucking good set of regulations and resharing of profit is fair
