Gas & Electricity

Yes 4% from Russia. But that makes no difference to price we are paying. And yes I'm confident that we will get a package to help out. I sense a left leaning post above.
As ive stated at least twice now, this has nothing to do with whatever party anyone supports...thats the actual issue....I dont think any of them actually care..whether its the current people in charge or the opposition....I wouldnt trust any of them as most are so far detached from reality that they have little to no idea how the average person on the street lives

You suggesting I lean one way or the other is THE problem...I dont care about your colour of political favour...blie, red, yellow whatever....what I care about is what is happening to this country....NONE of them have done any good for the average person in the street.

There are some things that should never ever be negotiable, never ever allowed to be a political football that is kicked around by whatever party. The NHS is the first, education is another and the standards of living is another.....there are probably others but these 3 should be off the debating table...there should be cross party collaberation on these at all times to work out what is best instead of buffoons shouting at each other across some ancient hall, achieving nothing and just taking home a hefty pay check and ...on these areas it shouldnt be about political point scoring but serving the people of this country to the best of their abilities.....

So are you prepared to live like this winter after winter mate.
This is the attitude the elites in this country rely on the mustnt grumble British attitude...they piss themselves laughing at this behind closed doors
Get it through your head mate the elites have contempt for you and make do and mend won't cut it
Totally agree. This isn't some third world country, we're considered to be a wealthy nation. Nobody should have to worry about bills to this extent in the 21st century, there are enough resources.

Norway are not helping by cashing in. They're now supplying the EU with more gas than Russia, and apparently even admit the price is high "but we're not going to change it".

Best post of the day.

The last part is the crux of the problem. Brexit...Covid...Energy Crisis...ALL you hear is the other side bickering about what the current incumbents are doing, no doing, or doing wrong, regardless of who's who or which side they're on. There needs to be a plan to get back to basics and sort all this crap out, instead of constant battling and trying to win brownie points off each other. When you look at what is spent on some of the things they blow money on, from the top even down to council level, while they're clueless about what to do about the basics, the things that really affect people, it beggars belief.

A simple point in fact is the local council. Here in Blackpool, when the buses were council run we had the oldest buses in the country because they were skint - despite the trams making millions from tourists every year. Now the buses are empty they can somehow afford to buy a new fleet. But that's not all - they're now replacing the new fleet AGAIN with an all electric one, despite all the buses being less than 5 years old. This is a town that is said to be one of the most deprived in the country, yet this is what they think we need more than anything. There's no money to repair the pot holes, which are also said to be the worst in the country.

Sorry, rant not intended, got carried away there but it's typical of why this country isn't working.

Absolutely not pal but I also don’t want to get into debt either. I know what you mean but they don’t give a shit if I’m cut off or not so I’ll do everything in my power to do that and then next elections I’ll make sure the cunts never come back
I agree with your sentiments, but I have no faith whatsoever that whoever gets in will be any better. Far too much of a gap between top and bottom, the system just doesn't work. Never has, never will.

Absolutely, but that's the point isn't it? If they have an income of £85k a year then that should be sufficient to live well enough for most people. If not, they're spending too much. That's not the same as a couple on minimum wage, or the millions who can't afford to buy a house and are tied into renting - in line with everything else, our landlord has just told us the rent is going up.
But its all relative isn't it? If they earn £85k they likely have a more expensive car and house to pay for, that doesn't mean that they can somehow afford a ridiculous increase in their utility bills

Nobody should have to reassess their finances in order to pay these bills, that's what they want us to do

Once we do that, and adapt to this new cost of living, those prices will NEVER come back down, and we will all be much worse off

Don't have a pop at someone, anyone, regardless of their salaries, just because they're showing frustration and worry about being much worse off than they used to be
