Winters have been generally warmer last few years which is why that cold snap was a real shocker.Agree those 3 weeks - but before that I didn’t have the heating on since first week of March !
If we have warm years like that then Gas is hardly going to be used bar a couple months in total

Just had our 6 month bill (July 22- Jan 23) courtesy of EDF. £730 for both Gas and Electricity. 3 bed semi, family of 4.

He works with the daily cost of gas for generation and has said for a long time that these energy companies have been taking us to the cleaners and are making huge profits. The unit rate for gas is 9.84 pence per kWh. Add 5% VAT, this is 10.33 per kWh. The standing charge is 25.56 pence per day.
12 months ago, the unit rate for gas was 3.81 pence per kWh. Add VAT at 5%, this was 4 pence per kWH with a standing charge of 24.48 pence per day.
Overall, it’s a unit rate increase of 2.5 times the price 12 months ago.
Our bill has pretty much doubled annually from £1800 to £3600 even though we now use less than 12 months ago.
The bills from April are going to be frightening. How on earth can this be sustainable for people???
