Gas & Electricity

I switched to fixed recently and it’s slightly cheaper
I think that can be misleading, we did the same, however we can do the washing etc when we want with the agile we would vary it to early hours of the morning etc. Switching back to fixed though like yours has saved us if we did the same routine on agile.

Anybody had their smart meter not send readings?
We have to allow 30 mins readings to get our overnight electric tariff. From 00.00 to 05.00 we pay 12.9p kw.
We have been using this to do almost anything including charging the EV car, washer/dryer, dishwasher. It has made a massive difference to our bills.
I noticed EDF hadn't got any reading from 17th Oct. However, the smart display in the house is still getting data, and my ivie smart app is still showing current data, so the actual meter is working.

EDF have just asked us to send them a current reading. I've refused on the grounds it won't show the cheaper overnight tariff.
I assume they can recover the data manually, maybe by somebody coming to the house. If not, what happens to my discount overnight rate? It will almost double my bill if they cannot access my discount rate.

EDF online data is absolutely terrible and has been for the last 18 months or so. Gas data rarely shows and electricity generally shows as double the price for some reason. There was some comment online about moving over to a new data system a while ago that completely wrecked everything online.

The good news is that the meter readings on the actual box tally with what they are charging.

EDF also haven't received any data since the 17th, so it not just online. It was all working perfectly before then.
My bills went from £500-600 a month down to £220-£260 with the new tariff.
All we did was put all the washing stuff on delayed starts, including the car. We actually use more electric in summer than winter due to a small outside pool.
EDF are on it and have passed it over to the EV tariff team. I think the sim card in the meter is broken. Or it has lost 2g/3g due to changes to our local phone masts.
I was just wondering how they deal with it if they cannot get the data for the overnight tariff. It's basically going to cost me £250ish month extra until they fix it etc.

We wanted Octopus, but our SMETs1 meter won't work with them. I'm not sure why that cannot be changed by Octopus. Money i assume?

How bigs your house? 5-600 a month!!

Yeah good point. Agile was great when we had an EV but I get less benefit from it now. I don’t like running washing and stuff at night as it disturbs my dogs!

Octopus changed my SMET 1 electric one which had never worked installed by EDF within a month of me crossing over, EDF fucking useless I’d never go back.

My electricity smart meter packed up nearly a year ago and the meter reading hasn’t changed since then. I told them about it twice and they’ve been sending estimated bills based on the previous years consumption ever since without bothering to fix or replace the meter. Have now bought an EV that I plug in to a normal mains point and use the washer, dryer, oven and every electrical appliance without worrying about the bill.

Could do with gas one packing up as well.

Our smart readings with Octopus are acting the pan again. They have managed to "recover" data up to 15th October and are working on the remainder? Our meter is a smet2 supplied by themselves, and this is the second time it's happened.

The last time in August they could not recover all our half hour readings, so gave credits to our account to compensate. It does make you wonder how resilient smart meters are, and if they are currently fit for purpose.

The whole basis of their Agile tarrif is to be able to diseminate readings from different times of day, otherwise it's as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Having said that I've confidence they will recify the issue either way.
